My 8 yr old son has a Browning Micro Midas as well. We went with it because of the room to grow factor. Lots of draw length adjustment, and changeable limbs when that time comes. It zips the arrows pretty good too.

My son started in the Browning as well. I have seen some kids at the club with the Trykon sport and Trykon Jr. and they really like them. Lots of very good choices out there. Good luck getting your son into this wonderful sport and THANK YOU for doing that. We need more youth involved.

I've heard good things on the Micro Midas, but my best suggestion is the PSE Deer Hunter. Its gotta be the smoothest bow to start off with. Theres no fancy cams to deal with. The package comes with everything for $200. Very nice bow and i would highly recommend it.

i work for the ohio division of wildlife and we have a archery in the schools program. we use the genisis bows and the kids seem to love them. they are good bows and we haven't had any problems with them. plus i think mathews has a program going where they will switch the limbs as your child grows. in my opinion thats the way to go.

I got my 7 year old son a Fred Bear Odyssey II for Christmas (although he doesn't know it yet). 15 inches of length adjustment, and 38 pounds of weight adjustment in one bow. Came with everything he'll need, including 3 arrows. It'll go up to 50lbs pull, so he can certainly hunt with it, should he take a notion.
