Fastest Bow
Alright, my buddy and I here in Iraq are having a small debate. I told him I think the BowTech 82nd Airborne is the fastest bow made right now and he disagrees. He can't tell me a faster bow but still doesn't agree. Can we get some help on this? Thanks

RE: Fastest Bow
Here are some 07 models. Doesn't include the 82nd or HCA Iron Mace http://www.huntersfriend.com/2007-Bow-Reviews/compound-bows-sorted-by-ibospeed.htm

RE: Fastest Bow
From what I have seen on the various boards (if you can believe what people post), it would either be the 82nd Airborne, or the X-Force with the 6 inch brace height.
|
RE: Fastest Bow
x force is super fast. ive seen 322 out of one with my own eyes, at 61or62 lbs.
|
RE: Fastest Bow
my buddy shoots a pse xforce with gold tip arrows somewhere arounmd a 400 grain arrow he gets 318 out of his but with a light arrow i seen 363 out of it with my own eyes
|
RE: Fastest Bow
my gold tips I cut at 28.5 only weigh 280 without the tip so you will get some good speed from those arrows
I thought about the PSE x force, but man its pricey and I hear some dont like the draw and its not very forgiving? But then again, some love it |
RE: Fastest Bow
I have shot three impressivly fast bows in my life
High country iron mace With a 28'' draw and a 350 gr arrow at 70# 337 82'nd airborn 29'' draw 65 lbs 328 Apa Black mamba extreme 28'' draw 70# 349 The apa was insane fast..... |
RE: Fastest Bow
Petersens Bowhunting magazine tested the 82nd and the X Force, the X Force was 1 fps faster.
|
RE: Fastest Bow
Elite GT500 is IBO rated 346 fps. I shoot the Bowtech 82nd, and the GT500 is faster through the chrono at shorter than the IBO draw lengths.
|
RE: Fastest Bow
Elite GT500
Elite e500 High Country Speed Force I have owned an e500 that shot an honest 336 fps. But, it was 80# |
RE: Fastest Bow
I have the HCA Speed Pro 2009 super fast IBO 352. I have speed pro arrows shooting almost 400fps. 30" draw 70lb.

RE: Fastest Bow
X-force hands down.
|
RE: Fastest Bow
i really dont know, but just wanted to say thanks and you got my support
be safe and thanks again |
RE: Fastest Bow
Actually, I think top honors for fastest bow (excluding HCA's shooting sub 5gpp arrows)belongs to this beast:
|
RE: Fastest Bow
just like i said :)
that bow is simply amazing.... and it shoots good too |
RE: Fastest Bow
IMHO the x-force is the fastest bow on the market, the 82nd is fast but the cam lean on it makes it one of the harder bows to paper tune, the x-force is a little easier and with the arrows i'm firing out of one makes it quick 250 cx maxima hunters at 27 1/4 up around 335 fps
|
RE: Fastest Bow
HCA iron mace shooting speed pro's clock at 360(not my bow but my buddies)
|
RE: Fastest Bow
The X-force is a fast bow, for sure
But honestly, the APA is unreal. the brace hight is hardly noticable. Pretty forgiving for an all out speed bow. I shot a 350 grain arrow at 349 when I was debating on becoming a rep for them another friend was shooting 71 lbs, 30" three shots 358, 356 and 359. thats with a 350 grain arrow...... Not speed pros nothing retardedly light... they are crazy. That said, i really really liked the Iron mace. so i am sure the speedforce is great. when I talked to nibal at apa last was when he was first getting the new bows in. He said the first one he chrono'd surprised him. they had switched strings to scorpion this year and had gained nearly 5 fps from last year. the only difference on teh bow itself was the fang added to the riser. He couldnt believe it and shot a few more shots all iin the high 350s. Amazing what ust a string will do. |
RE: Fastest Bow
I've shot a lot of Speed Bows and all things considered I think the 82nd is the winner.
I know it's the Fastest, Quietest, most Forgiving speed bow I've ever shot. Bring on the season!! Dan |
RE: Fastest Bow
I'll be getting a new bow next year, and the mamba intrigued me. The problem is there isn't a dealer anywhere in Indiana to check em out first hand. Unless my local shop miraculously starts to carry them in the next 6 months I'll probably just get another Hoyt...

RE: Fastest Bow
i would say top 2 are pse and the 82nd airbourne
|
RE: Fastest Bow
X-Force is the fastest out there. But Ispoke with my local archery dealer and he said he won't even sell them, they have so much torque that you have to constantly have them in the shop for retuning. Not worth the money he said.
Speed does not make up for accuracy my friend, I would rather be shooting something that I know I will hit right on with then something that shoots 350FPS and might hit spot on one minute and then not the next. |
RE: Fastest Bow
Don't believe everthing you hear. I've owned a bunch of bows, including the Mathews XT, Bowtech Allegiance, Hoyt Vulcan, and Hoyt Katera XL; I shoot the X Force better than any bow I've owned, hand shock is non-existant, and it's the fastest as a bonus. As far as tuning, it paper tuned easily and Slick Trick broadheads have flown same POI as field points out to 60 yards.
Here is one of my 60 yard ST groups: |
RE: Fastest Bow
Ive heard the PSE is faster then the 82nd. But speed isnt everything. Like grunt11 said ive heard that there are alot of them (not all of them) but a lot that have to constantly be retuned. I have also here that both bows are a lot louder then some of there competition. I used to shoot a High Country that was tweaked to go so fast (around 330fps) and deer still duct the dam arrows cause it was loud is crap. Happy meadian is better then just all speed.

The dealer I purchased my X Force from said the bow did not live up to the speed; he also sells Hoyt, and I've bought 3 Hoyts there. I called and asked about the X Force's speed and he said it wouldn't be much faster than my Hoyt, maybe 10 fps. He said I was welcome to come shoot it. I did, and it was 20 fps faster than the Katera XL (Z cams) that I had. I did not expect to shoot it as well or better than the Katera XL, I just liked having a blazing fast bow. To my utter suprise I shot it as well and better than the Katera, the sound of discharge was comparable, as was hand shock. I ended up selling the Katera XL and getting a second X Force, to my dealers utter surprise. I'm very happy with the X Force. It works for me.[8D] |

RE: Fastest Bow
I have owned the Black Max, Black Knight2, Iron Mace, Synergy, Black Mamba, an XForce6 and now the 82nd.
I shot the GTO, and although not as fast as my 82nd, I probably would have bought one but, did not like the wait period for a Lefty. The APA Black Mamba was the fastest outta the box I have owned and the 82nd and XForce6 were about dead even in speed although I didn't care for the draw of the XForce. The 82nd is the one I shoot now and really like the way it draws, holds, and looks compared to the APA. When I went home on R&R, I was getting 326 FPS (350gr @ 28.5"/70 lbs) outta it before I had it re-stringed and tuned by Mike Carter.....should be even faster now. |
