Bowtech General.... Very Interesting.........
Just yanked this from another site; this guy is a known DIEHARD Bowtech shooter so he can't be called for foul play here nor is there a conspiracy at hand............
Well I am not complaining...I love my bowtechs..!! But I just want to share an experience.. While tuning a Bowtech General, Full draw in the draw board, it exploded!! The axles pulled straight through the limbs... Well after two broken fingers, and a broken arm.. I decided to call bowtech. This is what they had to say... "Yes we realize that there has been a problem with a batch of epoxy used on some of the General limb tips." So I asked, why hasn't there been something done like a re-call. They said," the recall would be too large." I love my bowtechs and will continue to shoot them, they make a solid bow, but I think something needs to be done about this. I can't afford to have a broken arm and two broken fingers...this was a customers bow from MI. Sent to me for strings and tuning... Just wanted to share my experience to get more acknowledgment about the situation.... |

"The new limbs that you get when you send in for warranty they have a pin in the limb just behind the axle to hold them together better. Seen this at the shop tonight. Might be able to get pics if the shop owner will let me take them."

Nice, a recall would be too large. This same philosophy has a friend of mine going after Dodge for over 60 million!! Easier to cover the ones that do break and doing the right thing, truely sad.

Another comment from another HARDCORE Bowtech shooter........
"I have a Guardian with no problems but my hunting partner's Guardian blew the bottom axel very similar to the pics I have seen of the Generals. He had several thousand arrows through the Guardian before it let go. I am not sure if there is a problem but Bowtech did request the dealer to send the entire bow to them for examination. I don't know the consensus of the examination but there was concern from Bowtech's end to request the Bow." |

If they know about a real problem with limbs like this and they aren't going to do anything about it then they are setting themselves up for a major law suit and a huge loss of trust from customers they lost.
However, with that said........ Problems like this seem to also get huge publicity on the internet. Wether it is bows, cars, tires, rifles, treestands, or what ever. With the thousands and thousands of people on the net andonlya fewmajor bowhunting forums, when something like this happens it creates a huge tidal wave of "sue so and so", "I would drop so and so", etc... etc... because it gets seen over and over.Many times things like this get blown way out of proportion on the net. |

I agree with BB. Especially in archery where people have strong brand loyalty. When I read reports of a failure (regardless of manufacturer) I just feel sorry for the shooter. I could care less what brand name is on their bow. It's not something you want to happen to anyone.
But on a personal note I really wish people would stop posting so much hearsay. Man law should start covering these types of claims too. ;) |
