Broadheads
I used a Magnus snuffer 125 boardhead and it did a great job on a nice 190 or so pound Buck last Year. Hopefuly this year (2003) They will just a good on Bear. What Broadheads does everyone else use? and on what type of Game?

RE: Broadheads
I have used a number and all have worked well; Wasp SST, Rocky Mountain, Thunderheads, Magnus, Zwickey and Muzzy to name a few. I use the 3blade 100 gr muzzy for deer and bear and 125 Muzzy for elk and moose currently.

RE: Broadheads
Thunderheads!
|
RE: Broadheads
I' ve used Rocky Mountain, Thunderhead, and currently am using Muzzy 125 grain. All have woked well on whitetail, mule deer, antelope, african plains game(used the RM there). I prefer the Muzzy, they seem to fly better, they don' t come apart and they make huge holes.

RE: Broadheads
I have used all sorts of differnt heads for hunting, but my bread and butter broahead is Muzzy. Not so much the style or wieght, as I change that from year to year, but the brand it' self has proven to be very reliable and easy to work with. The Magnus Snuffers you are using are excellent heads with a very loyal following. Magnus makes outstanding products with the best warrenty in the industry.

RE: Broadheads
The Wasp SST is very good. I' ve also had good luck with the Bear razorhead. Next year I' m going to try the Magnus Stinger.
|
RE: Broadheads
Wasp Jackhammers 100 (3 blade mechanicals) - huge blood trails!
|
RE: Broadheads
WASP HAMMER SST-125' s
|
RE: Broadheads
I have used Thunderheads on every animal that I have hunted with a bow. But, I have only shot a couple deer with them. :D
They are VERY sharp out of the box, they fly GREAT, and they can leave some mean blood trails. They are also tough. |
RE: Broadheads
Wow. So many diffrent kind of heads, That is what I think is so great about this Sport. Thanks Everyone

RE: Broadheads
Steel Force premium 100' s. I was told that they were the best flying bh' s out there, and I have to agree. They are one for one on Arkansas' bucks too!
|
RE: Broadheads
gold tip gladiators 100 gr or muzzy 100gr thats my bet
|
RE: Broadheads

This year I plan on using the new Rocky Mountain Ironhead 100 and the Snyper 100. |

RE: Broadheads
Black Bear, Elk, Caribou, Whitetail, Mule Deer & the toughest of all Wild Hogs have succumed to the Rocky Mountain 3 Blade & in 45 years of Bowhunting Biggame I have shot many. Stick with a 3 blade-my 2 Black Bears are P&Y & I had pass thrus on both-1- 20 yards, 60# Compound, 235# Spring bear, 19" , complete pass thru. Fall bear-600 Pounds, 18 12/16" , 6' 4" rug, 30 yards, complete pass thru & this bear was huge (body size).
Good luck in your choice |
RE: Broadheads
last year i used the magnus 2 blade 140 gr.
this year im going to use the 145gr. snuffer |
RE: Broadheads
come on fellas how bout those spitfires-- the blood trail they leave is incredible!
|
RE: Broadheads
Muzzys have never let us down. Will continue to use them. They' re defenitley " bad to the bone" . elknut1. |
RE: Broadheads
I use Steel Force Serrated 100 grain broadheads on everything, they have performed well for me on Pennsylvania whitetail, black bear in New Brunswick, and wild boar. The company also offers a lifetime reshapening guarantee that may interest you. Good Luck.

RE: Broadheads
I' ve shot and hunted with a LOT of cut-on-impact heads (Magnus, Zephyr, Woodsmans, Steelforce, etc.). My favorite in either a 2 or 4 blade configuration is a Zwickey Eskimo...hands-down. Followed up in a close second by the Woodsmans. some of the other ones, I wouldn' t hunt anything bigger than a gopher with.

RE: Broadheads
Rubber blunt tips on deer, I believe in piss' in them off.
|
RE: Broadheads
I' ve been using 100 grain Muzzy three blades but I' m curious about the Rocket Ultimate Steel. My reservations stem from the 7/8" cutting dia.. I would think the smaller diameter would penetrate better but would leave a smaller wound chanel. Any input?

RE: Broadheads
Do not use Grim Reaper Broadheads. I shot a nice buck last fall with them and the broadhead didn' t penetrate the chest. My buddy shot the deer 5 minutes later and we found the broadhead in the chest wall. Also the heads are not tough enough to be shot again. They are get bent easily.
