What arrow combo for Black Ice?
 

Hey,

What arrow and blazer or vane combonation works best for the Black Ice? Right now I am only shooting standard GT's with the vanes and I am not impressed.

I shot GoldTip XT Hunters last year with 2in blazers, 75gr. headsand had no problem. Arrows flew great.That was out of my07Black Ice60lbs.,28 in draw and 27 in arrows.

Do the blazers work better than the 4" vanes that they come with?

I shoot a Black Ice with Blazers and have great success. However, I had to change the stock cable guard as I was getting contact with the high profile Blazer and the cables. The arrow I shoot is the Carbon Tech Whitetail XP (0.400 spine) and they work great also. I did shoot GT's prior to the CT's but obviously changed. See the pic below for a comparison in performance between the two arrows. The group is shot at 60 yards.

I switched 4 years ago to blazers from 4in vanes and in my opinion the arrows fly better.

I am going to change them. I don't know how to paper tune but it was just suggested by a buddyof mine also.

The problem that I am noticing is that 25 yards and further my arrows seem to go sideways for a bit but are still accurate.

I also don't know how to paper tune but there are guys on here that can definitley help out.I was shooting mine out to 50 yrds with great arrow flight. Good luck with everything. Hope you can figure it out.

i shoot a hoyt but i shoot the carbon express maxima hunters with blazer vanes. There very light and very fast i gain about 10 feet per second.

How light are they? Are they good enough for hunting?
