Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the only difference between Bowtech and Diamond is that the Bowtechs are the dual cam bows while the Diamonds are the single cam bows. Consequently, you should look at the Bowtechs if you like the dual cam design and the Diamonds if you prefer the single cam design, not as Diamonds as the "economy" line. I don't think any corners were cut in the manufacturing and design of the Diamond bows... especially the Marquis and Black Ice. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but the Marquis is every bit a top tier bow... just a single cam bow.

The Marquis is awesome. I am waiting on my second one in the comp. colors. I have had that bow shooting 318 with a bit of tinkering but, shoot it at 65# and am still hitting 284 all day long.
The Diamond line has indeed evolved into one of the best solo cam bows on the market they still have a few economy models that shoot awesome. I can bury the X all day long with the Rock ($399). At 60 lbs. this bow can touch 300 fps.
The Marquis, Black Ice and Liberty, IMO will give any solo cam a run for the money and probably come out on top with a little less on the price tag.
I like to watch these guys shooting the Drenalins and the Switchbacks and then let them shoot the Marquis, I was a Mathews shooter for 16 years, so, I had the whole Mathews pride thing going on. I love to see their face after shooting the Marquis and hearing the price tag is a couple hundred less.
Congrats on a great bow and your new found passion, It is an addicting one!

Diamond bows are just great bows all the way down the line. My Victory, which is a discontinued bow is a mid-range bow, but I absolutely love it. I haven't shot a Marquis and I probably shouldn't either. I think bows are a lot like cars and trucks. Some people like chevys and some people like fords. I'm a Diamond guy. There is just something about the feel of them that has me sold.
