I don't think it has much to do with the knots. On both bows I've had it on I've tied them that close.

I took it into Sportsman's yesterday to check it on the scale and my old boss dry fired it about 1/4 of the way back. [&:]

It was starting to oval a bit before that, but now... [:@]
