Allen deluxe automatic bow&gun retriever
Ok I thought that this gizmo was gonna be sweet , wow was I wrong. It has a few problems, first off the thing says its automatic ,but doesnt even come close to being able to "automaticly" retreive my bow or actually not much more then the actual line itself. Now lets get to the line its so thin when I found out it was not gonna be able to haul up my bow and I would have to use my hands it about cut right through my skin. it is a great idea but needs a "reel" or a stronger spring so it would actually work .

I have found that most (not all)products by Allen are junk. Thats why walmart carries them I guess.

The auto reel feature on this was only really meant to reel the line up automatically to keep it from getting tangled like a rope when you roll it up. If it reeled your gun up while you were climbing the stand it would be kinda useless wouldn't it. Who would want a rifle hanging from they're belt while they were climbing...you might as wheel just clip the sling to your belt. I will say that the line is too thin....to solve this i took it apart and installed a bigger cord that i got from the local hunting store for 99 cents. Now it works pretty well....it's kinda noisey and it's not made all that great but you really can't complain with it for the price. It's really nice to not have to worry about knots and tangles in your rope when your trying to get in tha stand when its still dark.

One key word here, Allen a.k.a. junk a.k.a. Wal-Mart specail. But yeah, not really meant to atomatically real up your gun or bow.

RE: Allen deluxe automatic bow&gun retriever
Oh man, I bought this piece of crap this year myself. I got hooked up on some branches with my bow, and was worried the little string would break so I had to climb down my climber and unhook the branches. Also its loud, and will cut your hands, and if you try to let you bow/pack, etc down real slow, you could mess up and it go down much faster than planned.
I went back to cotton rope. |
