Default .029" or .019" pins.

Looking to get a sight, not sure which one yet but i was wondering what you guys like better for pin size. My farthest shot will probably be around 40 yrds.

I personally went to the .019" pins this year. I have a 20,30,40 yard pin setup and with the bigger pins they were kinda jumbled together, the smaller pins seem to give more room between each other, which I really like. However, the smaller pins do gather LESS light. Not really a problem except right at dark shooting 30 or 40 yards. Probablydark enough not to be shooting anyway. Since I see far more deer between 9-10 am I like the smaller pins better.

I've shot .019 my whole life and last year I switched to .010 and absolutely love them. It's important that you get a sight with exposed fiber optics. People worry about the visiblity in low light, but I have a Spot Hogg with the hog wrap and when it's too dark to see my pins... it's too dark to shoot.

i believe that the .029 are just a little to big to be shooting 40. i have always shot the .019 and really like them although i have thought about going to the .010 on my viper predator pro sight.

.19 pins are precise and, if you get them coiled, will perform great in low light.

I use a 29 for my 20 and 19s for my 30 and 40. I would actually suggest going with 10s for the 30 and 40 so you can see even more of the target.I've also noticed that red goes dim way before my greens do, so you might want to avoid it.
