RE: Anybody use a Thermacell?
i bought a tcell before going out last week
it worked awsome it takes about 10 min to start working and the small amount
of smoke it emits works well as a wind detector.
i hunted areas that i have given up on early season in the past,
iwould definitly reccomend springing for the holtser as it quiets the noise of acorns hitting the unit and straps the concave side of the tcell to the leg calves
very nicly
rate it 9.6 ot a 10.

I've got a question do you have to use a whole catridge at once or can you use it for a couple of hours and save the rest for next time?

I absolutly love mine. I won't go fishing or hunting without it. I only have problems in high wind. Doesn't work well.
As for turning it on and off. You definetly can. I have had it suggested to me several times though that if you are going to use it for hunting that you need to make sure you have a fresh scent pad. Have heard if you reuse one that has already been started that it will put off more oder. But if you use a fresh one it won't put off the same oder.

After reading what all you had to say, I am going to get one ASAP. Its always disconcerning when I am about to go hunting or fishing and find out that the area I am going to needs to be sprayed for the West Nile Virus.

I love mine. It is somewhat expensive. I let a buddy borrow my old one and now he is sold. It does produce some smoke and I can smell it. However, I have had numerous game down wind of me and they did not seem to be bothered. It does have limited use in high wind. If I do not hunt a full 4 hours at one time, I do reuse the mat until itis whiteor4 hours as instructed. The only draw back that I have with it is that it has to lay flat. I have had to velcro mine to the base of my stand so that it does not fall off. I think it would be nice if you could strap it around the treevertically. But this should notdiscourage anyone from using it.
