new bow

My 13 year old brother just got a compound bow for christmas it is a Cherokee and it has a 31" draw length and is 70 lbs. Does anyone know how to change they poundage if possible.

Changing weight should be pretty easy. Where the limbs meet the riser, there is usually an allen wrench adjustment. The KEY(important stuff here!) Make sure you turn the bottom and the top as close to identical as possible. This will aid in the tuning later.I.E. the top limb could be set for 58lbs while the bottom is set for 48lbs...and you can't get a pattern, or a paper tune, or a group...this could be why! Nothing major, just go 1/2 turns on each till it's comfortable for him. Good Luck.

Be sure to find out the maximum number of turns you can go on the limb bolts. Turning out too many turns may cause the bolts to pull out. Not good. Manufacturers have a maximum number of turns allowable.
You may also want to check the draw length, to make sure it's correct. I know some kids grow big these days, but 31" draw seems awfully long for a 13 yr old.

If he has a 31&quot; draw and is only 13 what the heck are you feeding him?
I sure would not like to come across him in a dark alley in a few years time<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
