Spot Hogg Sights
 

Are these sights worth the high price that they are sold for. What would be a good hunting and 3d sight. Are they bright? The fiber optics looked to very short. But then there is the addition of the add on wrap, but that is an extra 40-50 bucks then the light is even more money. Is it worth it? who shoots one? Pro's, Cons? Thanks, RB

I bought a Mathews Switchback that came with a Spot Hogg 5 pin sight on it and absolutely love it. The sight is extremely well made and very solid. The fiber optics are only as long as the pin but seem to gather plenty of light. I have owned several other sights such as Cobra and Trophy Ridge but the Spot Hogg's quality is miles ahead of them. I hunted from a treestand for the first time last year after many years of spot and stalk. Due to the extremely steep mountain the tree is on I put my treestand up 30 feet in order to be at eye level with the trails uphill from me. I accidently knocked my bow of the stand while getting situated. After climbing down to check it for damage I could see that the sight had hit the dirt. Everything was straight and the only things broken were the fiber optics on a couple of the pins. This sight can take some real abuse and stand up. Highly recommended.

I certainly can't complain about mine . I've used the Real Deal and now am using a Hogg it . The only complaintI had was that they weren't bright enough for low light condition's ,but you can work around that issue by adding extra long fibre's ,that I've done . But I think the Spott Hogg is well worth it's money ,they're tough as nail's and are built as well as any sight on the market today.

Ican truly say,the brightness of the pins on the Spot Hogg has improved 100% when the wrap/light is added to the sight.

It's almost amazing how bright the pins are now, moreso when in a blind, I have absolutely no problem now seeing my pins, thus making this upgrade quite worthy of the cost.

Yes, I agree that the light and wrap would improve the brightnes, but then your looking at about $250.00 just for the sight.[:-]

You arecorrect there, but what sense would it make sitting out in the woods for hours & hours, day after day and then get a chance at a gooddeer just before darkand cannot see your pins.
My eyes are terrible, .019 pins are impossiible to see and so the wrap really worked wonders with my .029 pins.
Before it was almost impossible to see my pins when shooting from a blind.
I'll have this sight for a long time to come, so this investment will be worthwhile, I'm sure.

I love mine. I have experienced a broken fiber optic but it came with a replacement. The bow got hung up in a sapling pulling it up in the dark. Luckily it was my 50yd pin which I dont need for treestand hunting whitetails. I like small pins which are not advantageous at dawn and dusk. I chose the light over the wrap. I wear contacts so the super bright pins of the wrap would present too much glare so I chose the light and its awesome. I have the small pins for shooting at small targets during regular daytime and a light to turn on at dawn and dusk. I have the Hoggitt hunter and love it. Read the directions before adjusting the pins at sight in as it seems complicated but is really easy and I have never had a problem with them moving.

Yes, but there are other sights out there that offer the same kind of brightness for half the price, ie, like the G5 Optix I am using now.

That's quite true. I've even used the Black Gold sight with the ultra voilet shade that accomadates for too much or too little light.
For me the Spot Hogg is so easy to tune, 1-2-3 axis, pins, and as my distributor carries this sight 'my cost' it not all that bad.;)

Thats great for you, butI can't get that kind of deal, and being 17 I got to watch how I spend my money (or it would all be gone on hunting stuff;)). I like the newer extension bar sight that I could use for hunting and 3D but it is a little expensive:(.
