Muzzy Zero Effect 600PC
I posted a question about drop away rests without a rope or cord a few weeks ago. All of the feedback I received recommended a Muzzy Zero Effect. Since I was installing it on a BowTech Guardian, I purchased a model 600PC. First, let me say I have set up many, many bows with all different kinds of rests and sights. I followed the DVD instructions to the letter and I really struggled with this rest. I am only a 27" draw length and I don't know if that is a factor. But, when I was able to get the rest to lift the arrow up to the rest holes, it would not drop far enough to give me vane clearance. I shoot 2" Blazers and I realize they are a little higher profile than some other vanes. Regardless, after many hours and three times adjusting and readjusting eveything I could, I finally was able to get clearance. However, after tuning and shooting a dozen groups or so, I took it off and reinstalled my WB. I guess if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

One of my buddies had the same issue. Tried several drop aways and wound up going back to the WB.

RE: Muzzy Zero Effect 600PC
The MZE is a bad rest for a guardian no matter what muzzy says. I have a Liberty VFT, and I bearly have enough clearance for .4" high vanes. I can't use blazers. There is just not enough cable guard travel for it be great on a guardian. One trick, is to cross the cables above the slide, not below. I am going to have to do this on my liberty. And then when you set it for drop. You want the arrow notch to be barely below the riser if any. That way you can get max amount of rise and fall for clearance.

My friend and I were able to set up his guardian and ze without problem. It's shooting great.

Actually, BC, Muzzy does not recommend putting the Zero Effect on the Guardian... they're working on some things right now, and the prototypes are looking promising.

RE: Muzzy Zero Effect 600PC
Hey, bigcountry! I did cross the cables above the cable guard and I still had problems. I finally was able to barely get vane clearance but even after bare shaft tuning, my groups weren't even close to what I was shooting with the WB. My 3-D bow groups better witha NAP Quik Tune restthan my hunting bows with the WB. Don't get me wrong, the groups with my hunting bows and the WB are very good. I guess I was looking for perfection. That is why I thought I would try a secure drop away. I know several shooters who swear by the Zero Effect but it is not for me.

Thanks Greg/MO. I wish I had talked to you before I bought the 600PC. I wasn't aware of the issue with the Guardian. Oh well. It isn't the most expensive experiment I have conducted that didn't work. Do you think it would be worth the effort to try it on my Allegiance?

ORIGINAL: jdbowhunter Thanks Greg/MO. I wish I had talked to you before I bought the 600PC. I wasn't aware of the issue with the Guardian. Oh well. It isn't the most expensive experiment I have conducted that didn't work. Do you think it would be worth the effort to try it on my Allegiance? Sorry, you didn't get better advise earlier. I was told this by Len on here who runs a proshop. And he is a big fan of MZE for years. So I figure if he didn't like em, I wouldn't either. |
RE: Muzzy Zero Effect 600PC
I started a thread over in the Technical section before I saw this one.
I just ordered a Commander and want to shoot a 600-PC that I have sitting around. I have a 29" draw and it sounds like I'm out of luck on it working after reading this thread. [:@] Oh, well. WB to the rescue. ![]() |
