Outdoor Life: 2007 Bow Test Bottom Line, top 5 bows

RE: Outdoor Life: 2007 Bow Test Bottom Line, top 5 bows
My wife is a 27" draw length and she currently shoots an Allegiance. She has worked her way up to 55 pounds and has a Cow Elk Tag here in Arizona in September. I talked to her about an Equalizer but she loves her Allegiance even though it is a 2005. I think I will wait and see what BowTech comes out with in their 2008 line and maybe get her a new bow and keep the 2005 for a backup. By the way, her Allegiance is spitting them out at 261 fps with a 327 grain arrow and her 27" draw. Not too bad. Thanks for the feedback on the Equalizer, though.

I've kept and reviewed all of the Outdoor Life tests over the past few years and I really don't think that $$ is playing into any of it. They have no problem saying that this rifle or that rifle shot much poorer groups than expected regardless of the brand, or recommending a $300 pair of binoculars over a $900 pair and they have absolutely bashed a couple of very expensive shotguns in the past. FYI $6,000 for a trap, skeet,or sporting clays gun isn't that expensive, just go to a registered shoot and you will see lots of guns in that price range and much higher.
Shooting a bow is very subjective. In that group of bows and shooters, on that particular day, perhaps the Mathews was slightly better overall than the others. I know that's hard for Bowtech shooters to admit (you guys whine all over this forum). That shouldn't mean that everyone rushes out and buys a Drenalin, there are makes and models that will fit everyone. The Outdoor Life test is just a test of some new products.

Just so everyone is happy...Field and Stream just posted their bow test and the drenalin came in 6th out of 8 bows tested, PSE was #1.
It's like asking every bowhunter to pick their favorite flavor of ice cream, obviously there will be some differences of opinion. Additionally, though I really love mint-chocolate chip, some days rocky road tastes better to me. Same with a bow. You can test for speed, you can test for noise, but that's about it, the rest is very subjective and very much related to the componants put on the bow. With a rifle test you can easily tell if it is a shooter or not, not so with a bow.
