Commander is longer ATA and very forgiving. The Guardian is shorter ATA and not. I am faced with the same decision. Give up a few inches or not.

Shoot them both, plus any other bow you can get your hands on, and then decide for yourself which one strikes your fancy more.

The commander will be a little more stable. However, I haven't found any problems shooting my Ally out to 60 yds at 33.25" ATA and I took 2 years off from shooting.

I was leery of the short ATA bows but after shooting for 5 months don't have a problem with them at all. Practice as much as you can and work on yourgrip, release and formand even the shorter bow will shoot great.

yea thats my issue i like a bow with a longer ata,but the commander may be a little to long.i shoot a mathews feather max now,but i want to change and i think i want a longer bow wich is more forgiving is the commander and gardian dependable, smooth quiet, and trouble free?

i have a commander but i would have got the gardian if my draw was not 31 1/2" but very happy with the commander and also the switchback ld

yea i'm think either going to get a bowtech or switchback. i shot the switchback and it shoots great, now i want to shoot the commander and gardian.i've been shooting the mathews feather max for about 10 years now and still luv it,but i just want a change.

RE: bowtech commander or gardian

the switchback is easy on the draw but the commmander is better on the shot to me any way.

Just got my commander yesterday. It's an AMAZING bow! But make sure you shoot more than just the commander. I shot the Allegiance as well but I have a very large wingspan so I needed the bigger draw. Get a lineup of about 3-4 bows that you really like or more and go shoot them. Because every body is different and what feels good to me might now feel good to you or anyone else.
Good Luck either way you cant go wrong with a Bowtech;)

SAM thanks for the feedback.I will be going to shoot the commander and the gardian tuesday.I've shoot the switchback, hoyt vectrix, pse firestorm and x force.I want to shoot the bowtechs because i like a bow with a straight riser and longer brace height, also like the idea of a bow with a longer ata lenght which are becomming harder to find.I shoot the mathews feather max which i believe is 36 ata maybe a 34 someone correct me if I'm wrong.Alot of it depends on how well the bow feels in my hands and how well it aims.SAM is the commander smooth and quiet with little handshock?

I have both and they are both fantastic bows.

But I have a quiestion for you.

Is this going to be a dual purpose bow hunting/3d or strickly a 3d or hunting bow?

If it is going to be dual purpose then go for the Commander as the longer ATA makes the bow more stable for the longer shots.

On the other hand if it is going tobe a purely hunting bowthen the Guardian would be the way to go but all this also depends on your draw lenght if you have a long draw thenI would suggest the Commander.

Thanks ausie,It will be strickly for hunting and backyard shooting.which of the two is the most forgiving, smoothest, queitist, ect.does'nt the longer commander aim better?

Hey I went from shooting a feather max to the guardian, dont worry about the short ata. It will just wow you compared to the feather max, but I hada really hard time giving up the old girl but let me tell u the guardian is the way to go. It isa little bit faster and will be easier to move around in a tree. So yea I say shoot them both but the guardian was my choice.

Tre, sounds like your going to use your bow for basically the same stuff I use mine. I want to do some 3D shooting sometime but not competively. It is very quiet, smoot, and forgiving. But you wont know for sure how you like it till you shoot it. And you deffinelty need a longer arms to be able to draw and shoot this bow comforitably. And mine seems very very accurate. But that is more of the sight you use then the bow.
Good Luck:)

Thanks guys, sounds like I'M on the right track, can't wait to shoot them.I'll let ya'll know what I decide.IT will be hard to give up the mathews, but I don't think I will get rid of it,just keep it around as a security blanket.

Tre.

Both are extremely smooth to draw, forgiving and quite, I took the factory string silencers off and shot them before adding the MeanV CSS and both where still deadly quite.
They dont have any hand shock that I can feel.

Yes the Commander does aim better thats why I have it as my 3d bow but I would not hesitate to have it as a hunting bow either.

I got my Guardian inleft hand ( I amright handed) it is 10lbs less on the draw weight (50) but at hunting ranges I can shoot just as tightgroups as I can with the Commander at the same distance and as yet I have not shot it past 40 yards but I do intended to try it out at 70 plus yards;)

Thanks AUSIE,guess I'L just have to waiy until i shoot them both to decide which is right for me.Oh by the way what is a meanv css?

Kanga 07-01-2007 05:21 PM

RE: bowtech commander or gardian

It's a custom string supressor, Dan camo dips them so they match the bows camo.

I've only shot the Commander a hand full of times, but I can tell you the Guardian is a very accurate, forgiving shooting machine;)

you wont go wrong with either. I got the guardian. I like my bows a little shorter than the commander.
