Has anyone tried this out before...

No. Sorry. But another option is buying some U style brackets from the hardware store or Ameristep sells plastic brackets you can insert branches in. Not as fancy or flexible, but I am trying this this year on a bulky two many ladder stand and will post pics once I do. Want to see how well this works.

I use the Ameristep branches on a couple stands and also with my Double Bull. The holders that Ameristep sell are junk. The brackets that slide into the holders are always spinning and limbs end up drooping down. I even tried using screw to keep them from turning over, but the plastic would end up breaking. I had given up hope on using the branches on stands until I read chuckers post. Sounds like a great idea. Can't wait to try it!

Early report. I tried securing the Ameristep brackets this weekend using some rope or wire and they don't hold very well. I may try screwing the brackets into the stand frame like the package suggests but I'm not so sure I want to "compromise" the stand in any way by drilling extra holes. It probably wouldn't hurt to make a few small holes, though. Anyway, the tree branches I used stayed in the brackets firmly but that's because I picked a few that were a little too big and shaved them at the ends. Fit snugly and didn't move. Just need to get brackets secured and take pics. Got a lot of spindly grape vines in our woods too. What I think would work well is getting the branches set up and then weaving/wiring the grape vines throughout. This will take more work but cheaper and perhaps more realistic than commercially bought. You just won't have any foilage but you won't have any naturally by October here anyway!

I was going to buy the PMI syustem but now that chuckers mentioned the u brackets Im going to try that instead, because for me the PMI is a little expensive.

Revisiting this post. I finally got around to puting up my branches with brackets. It's good. But nowhere near as good as the pics in the PMI photos. No leaves to help conceal, basically. I am thinking about putting a camo skirt around my large buddy ladder stand instead, but may have to build a lightwork frame out of 2 x 2s to do this and attach with cable ties. I would put the skirt around the flip up shooting rail but its kind of high for bow hunting and might limit close shots. Anyone shoot over a standard shooting rail with their bow? Or leave it up with a blind to add additional concealment? If so, how easy is it to shoot?
