API treestand chains?? Anyone have any experience???
I am worried about the chains on my api grand slam lite! I have been using the treestand for probably 4-5years now, last year i took all the old chewed up heat shrinking off the chains and put on new after cleaning and oiling up the chain! It didnt look to be in bad shape but just curious if anyone has ever changed their chains and should i continue to be worried? I cant help but to worry about it?????? Thanks

Not worried about mine. Repaired the shrink tubing couple weeks ago. It is not motorcycle chain either. I'd say some type of industrial chain. My old bikes would snap that chain like butter.

I have had my API for about 7 years and when the shrink wrap started to tear up, I put a piece of a black rubber hose on both the top and bottom chains. The hose has been on there the last 3 or 4 years and has held up well with no physical damage to the hose.

I have 4 or 5 years on my chains, I still trust them. I put regular clear tubing from home depot on them in place of the crappy shrink wrap, that has been holding up well the last 2 seasons. I think I read somewhere that the chains are for combines and you can get them in bulk at a tractor supply place...

I have over 10 years on my chain with no wear or tear. Like another posted stated. The chain is made to handle forces a lot greater than you will put on it from climbing a tree.
