I was in the same position about 6 months ago. I went from anchoring on the string to a loop and my old tru fire caliper release was meant for the string and not a loop. I hunted one season with it like that. Manually closing the calipers on the loop. It works but it is not fun in the cold weather.

I shot 30+ different releases and ended up with Scott Lil' Goose. It was small, sensitive and the construction is fantastic. Although I won't tell you what one to purchase, try a Scott. They are very nice.

Good Luck!

I've been very happy with the Winn loop hook gloves. The head is compact (i.e., doesn't hang way out in front of the trigger finger), which gives you a longer power stroke.

I'm new to the whole bow thing so I can't compare it with others but my Scott Lill Goose is great.

What kind of release do you prefer? Do you like the Wrist strap releases best, or have you even tried a finger release. Well in wrist releases, i recomend the Cobra Green Mamba R2, its a great release, and it also isnt that expensive. But in finger releases i recomend the TRUBall Ultra Extreme wiha Talon head attachment.
