Fixed blade boardheads
What is the best fixed blade broadhead on the market?
|
RE: Fixed blade boardheads
i like the slick tricks 4 blade or the sonics, i shoot both:D
|
RE: Fixed blade boardheads
Best fixed blade? Anyone's guess. I do like the Montec; very tough and resharpenable. (Awfully expensive too.)
|
RE: Fixed blade boardheads
I don't personally have any blades on my boardheads. ;) All kidding aside, I am going to try fixed broadheads for the first time this year, andgoing to give the Crossfire, 100grns a whirl.

RE: Fixed blade boardheads
I also like the Montecs, I like the fact that you can re-sharpen them. The blades are pretty tough however I did bend one on a spine hit this year on a big doe. She fell right in her tracks but when I recovered the arrow I noticed the blade was bent. This was the first time I have bent a Montec blade. I have been using them for the last three years and have taken over ten deer with them in those 3 years so I guess I can't complain.
That being said I will most likely use them again next year. |
RE: Fixed blade boardheads
Here are my top 3..in no particular order....;)
1. Magnus Stinger. IMHO, simply THE BEST fixed blade head on the market. Backed by an unconditional lifetime warranty. I shot a doe last fall that busted my Stinger all to...H E double hockey sticks....Magnus replaced it, no questions asked. 2. G5 Montec. Fly like darts and wicked sharp. 3. Muzzy. Been around forever, their legacy speaks for itself. |
RE: Fixed blade boardheads
Not sure there is a "best" anymore; there are just so many good ones now. I usually try new broadheads each season. It is getting harder and harder to find a bad one - and that's a good thing. The ones I've liked the most are Muzzy, Innerloc, Slick Trick, Magnus and Simmons. I actually prefer the Innerloc to the Muzzy. This year I was very impressed with the Simmons RazorShark I used. So much so, I may do something I rarely do: use it again next year!

RE: Fixed blade boardheads
Tons of great broadheads these days, but my personal fav right now is the G5 Striker. Flies great, sharp and has repalceable blades, which boosts it above the Montecs, IMO. Try them out, shoot the one that gives you the greatest confidence.

RE: Fixed blade boardheads
My favorites is the NAP Thunderhead. I have used this blade for many years without one failure or complaint.
|
RE: Fixed blade boardheads
125 Gr. Muzzy Phantom for me!
|
RE: Fixed blade boardheads
I agree that simmons sharks are a very good head, and muzzy's are top notch, i have used both for the last two years with no complaints about either. You also might consider the Atom from Arrow-Dynamic Solutions. My friend has used this broadhead for the last two years and swears on his life he will never switch. I just like to be stubborn with him so i have not tried it yet.

RE: Fixed blade boardheads
I used the Muzzy MX-4 last year, and I'll beputtingthe MX-3 through its paces this year. I think this is gonna be one super-tough little head that should fly great.
|
RE: Fixed blade boardheads
I've stuck with the Slick Tricks for the last three years. I noticed the Newer Tricks for 2006 got burred pretty easily after a pass-thru and that could be from the surgical sharpness and the thinness of the blades at the edge.
For this year I plan on testing the New Titanium Bullet, aSteel Force Broadhead, the Hades by Grim Reaper, The MX-3 Muzzy and the Maniac from Aftershock. G5 have also improved a whole lot. However you can get loads of really good fixed blades broadheads today. |
RE: Fixed blade boardheads
I have the muzzy 3-blades that i've shot it seems like forever, and then last year I used the muzzy phantoms. I think they are both bad to the bone.
|
RE: Fixed blade boardheads
Slick tricks for me, you can't beat the broadhead or the service.
|
RE: Fixed blade boardheads
Muzzysor Thunderheads all the way!!!! They are tried and true and flawless.
|
RE: Fixed blade boardheads
I have shot Steel Force 85 gr serrated the last 3 years. I like the fact that they shoot just like my field points and that they are a cut on contact blade. I have awesome penetration with these. A pass through on a steep quartering away mule deer buck at 40 yards. Exited just in front of the opposite shoulder. Also a pass through on a 250 lb black bear standing facing me. Entered 1 inch to the side of the brisket and exited one inck to the opposite side of the spine. 50 yard recovery. Shot another buck quartering to me at 30 yards. through the chest, out the belly, and through the rear leg. Breaking the rear leg as well. 100 yard recovery. Good broadhead, although I wont claim the best because I haven't tested all. I just know that these are very deadly.

RE: Fixed blade boardheads
I shoot the American Broadhead Company sonic heads. They are smaller and don't look as bad as the other broadheads but they fly like a field point. So there is no worry about having to resite your bow from field tips to broadheads, its all the same.

Thunderheads! Never gave me a reason to cuss them. Bought 30 for 50 bucks 2 years ago to boot. They fly true, penatrate clean through, leave a pile of blood to follow and a freezer full of meat to enjoy and I do!:D
