I like my girlfriend's Micro Phoenix but nothing really stands out in a crowd with it, just a good solid bow.

RE: Parker bows

like most bows on the market today, they're a great bow that share the patent with mathews. my sugestion: don't pick a brand of bow, pick a type of bow (ie, length, forgiving, speed) then shoot all within the class and then pick which you like best.
a new company that i've liked is ROSS; check them out too.

The bow is a used 2004 Ultra Light, I'm thinking of buying it for a back up.

I have a parker, so far no complaints. I like it.

IN MY OPINION , any bow you can buy through the mail is junk. A buddy bought a Parker last summer because he thought Mathews were too pricey. When he showed it to me , I shot it and laughed at him, it sucked! For 80$ more the cheapskate coulda got a switchback like I did. You guys shooting PSEs,Parkers,&Diamonds think there good because you dont make the extra effort to go to a proshop a shoot a Hoyt or Mathews , if you did youd see the diff.I dont mean to insult anyone but I hate to see my hunting bros buy an infierior bow to save a couple $

I just gota newParker Hornet for Christmas and it's a super nice bow. Check em out on their website at parkerbows.com. My buddyshoots an'01 Mathews and he was blown away by the speed of my bow when we first shot it. It's a bad joker.

RE: Parker bows

God bless ya , Im glad you like your bow , but W/ all do respect , fast bows dont kill, broadheads do and smooth shooting low shocking bows get them in the vitals better. Dont compare FPS, compare quality & how it feels when the bow goes off. In that comparison Ill put my 06' XT or even my 01' MQ 32 up against any Parker.

SouthernStrut56 01-11-2007 05:27 PM

RE: Parker bows

Wellwhy pay so much more for a Mathews if it's not the bow that kills animals? If you can get just as good and sometimes better performance from a cheaper bow, why not do it? I don't know, whatever. Anyways after shooting both bows, my buddylikesmy parker hornet better than his mq overall, I don't know if yours is exactly like his or what. NO shock at all, quieter, and smoother thanhis mq, he says. AndI was actually talkin to the guy that posted the question about parker bows letting him know they are becomingbetter quality bows than past models, but I guess everybody likes to put their 2 cents in.We all have our opinions and you'll always be partial to your own equipment for sure no matter how good or how crappy it is, I was just telling the guy about Parker bows like he wanted.

NYRACKADDICT 01-11-2007 06:04 PM

RE: Parker bows

My point was there not "as good or better" than Mathews,If they were , they wouldnt sell them in mail order catologs. Did you ever see a Rolex in walmart? However I do agree, we all have our favorites and my opinion is no better than yours. Just dont be lazy- take the time to travel to a pro shop and if you decide you like Parker go 4 it , but if youthink Mathews is the better bow pay the x-tra 80$ !!!!

i have a parker hunter mag and it is very nice...even for a finger shooter!! :D

SouthernStrut56 01-11-2007 11:17 PM

RE: Parker bows

try an extra $400. after its completely rigged out you'll end up payin well over $1000 for a new Mathews when you would only pay about $800 for the Parker. Buy the bow for the performance, not the name. Go ahead and get your last word in and we'll call it quits cause this could go on forever and it ain't worth keepin' up with. Parkers are good, Mathews are good, they both kill deer. I prefer Parker b/c I have one, you prefer Mathews b/c you have one, whatever.

RE: Parker bows

I bought my son the parker hunter mag a couple years ago, it shoots great, its smooth, but we did have one problem when it was less than a year old. we were at a 3D shoot, he was drawing back and it flew apart. the lower module on the cam has an allen head screw, it either snapped or it came loose then snapped, probbably just a flaw that we happened to get ahold of. Parker did take care of it and put on new limbs, cam,and string. The pro shop recommended using the blue locktite on this screw, so if you own one you might check that screw from time to time or have a shop locktight it for you for insurance. Im not saying the bow is bad and would not be afraid to buy another one.

RE: Parker bows

I have shot a Parker Ultra Lite 35 for the past 4 years and have had Zero problems with it. I have taken 4 deer with it. The bow is really light (3.2 lbs. bare and rigged with a Cobra Sidewinder sight, 2 piece Parker quiver, S-Coil stabilizer, and WB rest still weighs in at around 4.5 lbs). The bowwas a bit noisy and had a bit of hand shock upon release but the Sims S-coil stabilizer and string leeches helped with that. BTW, I got mine at an archery shop closeout for only $259 (retailed in 2002 for $429)and rigged out still have less than $500 in it. My buddy shoots a Mathews FX which is very similar and IMO thetwo bowsare almost identical in every respect except he paid almost $600 for the bare bow in 2001. I'm not knocking Mathews as they are great bows but please don't knock Parker until you try them just because they are "mail order."

I would think that the mathews bows cost so much to pay for all of their advertising.

hey dont listen to the mathews junkie, i have an 06 trykon a 07 illusion and black ice and a new parker hornet and would not trade it for any mathews on the market(jk) no honestly like he said go shoot befor you buy every comapany makes a good bow but every company also has a quirk to there bows, if there was a perfect bow maker out there everyone would shoot a hoyt lol ha ha jk guys just trying to ruffle a few feathers

NYCRACKADDICT (errrrr "rackaddict")

Why do you care what anybody else shoots? I've owned both Hoyt's and Ben Pearson bows, and to be honest, I liked the Pearsons much better. Quieter, smoother, just as fast, better strings, better grips, and betterlimbs. Just smaller marketing budgets and therefore smaller price tags. I've shot all the new 07 bows, and I just bought an 06 Pearson Stealth, shot 50 times, for 400 bucks. I could buy two of these for one of your Mathews. And it's a better bow.

I agree that people should shoot bows before buying them. But if they want to buy a Parker from Cabelas instead of a Mathews from a pro shop, that's their choice. I wouldn't buy anything from my local Mathews dealer because they are so arrogant about Mathews that you can't stand to be around them.

Hey qz2g38b1244x, you michigan boys are sharp as a tack, I didnt think anyone could decode my NY(c)RACKADDICT "play on words" Seriously, you guys are taking this debate way too personally. The man wanted to know what people thought of parker bows. Was I only suppose to respond if I thought they were good?Sorry if I offened anyone, I admire anyone who can sit in a cold treestand for hours/days/ months just for the chance to kill a deer the hard way ..........I just admire Mathews shooters more . Come on guys lighten up Im kidding.

Hey "MATHEWS07HUNTER" can you go over to the archery gear forum ,go to "parker bow" & help me out?
HAHAHA how pathetic can you get? ive never in my life seen full grown men act younger than me, and im 16. "come help me argue a case that makes no sense because these guys dont like the company that makes my bow."

every bow company has a great bow at their top of the line each with a little uniqueness, although hoyt probably looks more different than any other major company because of the TEC risers. this isnt a good or bad thing its simply looks.

Thanks for the replies. I decided to pass on the bow. One of my dogs needed emergency surgery so there went the money I was going to buy the bow with. Always something.

Yeah your young alright, but have alot more maturity in your posts than these 30 somethings guys who are Mathews or nothing types. And yes it is pathetic to ask someone in writing in public for help in defending your own stupidity. Sorry mods, but look at all his posts.

It is unbeleiveable how some people talk about others choice in bows.
I have a Switchback Ld and l relly like it. I also have a Bear Vapor
and enjoy shooting it also. I am also looking at buying a Hoytt
or APA and I am sure I will enjoy them also. Are Mathews good
bows, certainly; are they the best, maybe to some but I doubt
it. Bottom line as stated before most manufactures offer a top
line bow and all are very good bows. I really do like my Mathews
but a fan boy I am not.

People agree on things here all the time and disagree too. The difference is we don't go out and try to recruit help.People also use other quotes to referencetheir statements to so that posters know to whom they are responding. Totally different from what you tried to do. Point is you were wrong and couldn't take the heat.
