back in it
ok, so i want to get back into bow hunting, i haven't done it in about 5 or 6 years and i want to again. i know in pa the season is over, and i am using my ML in our late season so i have to wait till next year now to bow hunt. but i figure its better to start now getting ready than waiting and putting it off so i don't go again next year ya know?
anyhow, i need some gear. i was gonna get a new bow but i think imma keep mine for now and just get new sights and rest for it, cuz mine are rusted a little. what do you guys reccommend, i have an old jennings now is that ok? if so what do you guys think about rests, i was looking at whisker biscuits? and sights, i want truglo, right now i have the metal pins. and are carbon arrows worth the extra money or are alluminum ok? anything else you guys could add would be great to know |
RE: back in it
Whisker Bisquit , love it
Copper John Dead Nuts , 5 pin hunter, love it. Economical accesories that work well:D |

The jennings will work fine don't shoot a new bow or you will NEED one. Go to a shop try some items out and decide what you like best. I hve local proshop that has a display almost all the broadheads available and lets you shoot hte ones your interested in so you can make an educated choice.

RE: back in it
The most important thing when hunting with bow.. is CONFIDENCE in your bow. Take your Jennings into a Pro Shop and have it re-strung. Check out there sights, rests etc. and ask questions. Aluminum arrows kill deer and are less expensive. You don't NEED carbon, you could get them, but you don't NEED them.
I took out a friend this year hunting for the first time. He shoots an old Golden Eagle he bought years ago cheap. On November 11th he had a nice little 6 point walk within 30 yards of him. He didn't shoot, wasn't confident in his bow. He made the right choice not shooting, but his bow cost him a great start to his hunting career. Confidence in your bow and your setup is very important. |
RE: back in it
well i did shoot the tribute and i want it so bad but its too expensive. i'm gonna takemy jennings to a shop and see what they say, i haven't seen it in over a year so i'm sure its in pretty bad shape. i think if i have enough money saved up after xmas i'm gonna look into buying the tomkat or diamond rapture. they are in my range and seem like great boys.
