RE: summit tree stand
I just got one a couple weeks ago, and have hunted out of it a couple times. This stand exemplifies most of Summit's long-standing traits: rock-solid, and extremely comfortable. There's a couple things that will take a little getting used to, as the stand attaches with two large ratchet straps. This means it may take a bit longer than what you're used to to hang the stand, but -- once hung -- I don't think there could be a more solid setup in the woods.
The seat is a large foam pad which is cradled by nylon webbing. This means you can't sit with perfect posture with your butt all the way back against the tree, and your back perfectly straight up and down... but, let's be real: how many of us sit like that anyway? If you're like the 99% of us who slouch, you can't ask for a more comfortable seat. I haven't looked closely enough to verify it, but I'm pretty sure this stand shares the same platform as my Viper and Cobra climbers. Obviously, these platforms are near-legendary for their solidness and roominess. The stand also has a leveling adjustment which gives you a small degree of flexibilitywith hanging in not-perfectly straight trees. A very slight negative is the fact that the stand doesn't come with shoulder straps, but I usually ditch the factory ones anyway and opt for aftermarket replacements -- so it was no biggy to me. All-in-all, this stand is well worth the money. |
