Kids Bow

I'm looking for a good bow for my 8 year old son. I want a real compound and not a plastic one. I saw a really nice one last year but cant remember who built it. It was tiny but had all the bells and whistles pluswasadjustable up to 40lbs. Does anybody have any ideas?

Several major manufacturers make a youth type bow these days. And you can check their individual web sites for those, but to start, I would suggest you look at the Bass pro web site, and see what they have to offer. Not that you need to buy it from there, but I know they havesome in their lines and they can give you a starting point of what you are looking for. Here they are.

Matthews makes twogreat youth bows the Genesis and the Genesis Pro. The Pro has adjustable draw lengths so that you can create a hard back wall for teaching back tension release. Both bows have zero let-off (let-off is unnecessary in low draw weights). The zero let-off means that it can really grow with your kid. In my opinion this is the way to go!

i was also looking for a good kids bow my daughter is 8 now and getting into archery. I did a little shopping and found that Parker has a good program that allows the bow to grow with your kid. The bow they sell is called a buckshot. As your kid gets older and stronger they replace the limbs and such for $50. specs go from 18" to 28" on draw length and draw weight from 20#-50#. So in ten years they could still be using the same bow. you can shop around but it runs about $350 fully equipped

ziggy, is your daughter really able to draw 20#? I've been looking for a youth bow for my son (7), but I don't think he could draw 20#.
