i shoot the outback (for 2 years), and find that it is not a real forgiving bow, probably due to its short axle to axle lenght. my form and everything else have to be near perfect to get great results. the switchback xt is a couple inches longer so it istheoretically a little better in this situation. if i was to choose between these two I would lean towards the switchback

the xt is actually a half inch shorter than the outback in axle to axle the brace height is about the same with the xt being 7 1/2 and the outback being 7 5/8 the major difference is the parallel limbs and longer riser on the xt and short riser and more upright limbs on the outback

personally i liked the outback better bc it seemed to shoot a little flatter but either one will be a great hunting bow you cant go wrong

I stand corrected on my first post for this topic, I stated the switchback xt is longer axle to axle than the outback. I realized this was incorrect shortly after my post but wasn't at home anymore so I couldn't correct my post. The original switchback is 2 inches longer but the xt is the same (or 1/2 shorter I guess). Nonetheless, the outback is not a real forgiving bow. If you are going to buy, do yourself a favor and test shootthese bows with sights on them. That way you can see how good your groups are. Just shooting them instinctively at a target 10 yards away in order to determine the "kick" and vibration is only a part of the equation.

I'm shooting the outback right now and I think its a good bow. My buddy shoots the switchback and he can't wait to sell it. I think I'm going back to a Hoyt next year though.

I went from an Outback to the XT...personally liked the Outback more. XT is still a GREAT bow.

I have an outback and really like it. I have a really good friend of mine that has a switchback and I have shot his several times. It is a very, very smooth shooting bow. either bow will be a really good bow, however, I would go with the switchback. Very smooth draw and release, has the newer, faster cam, and will probably have a better resale value if / when you go to trade it in for a newer one later on in life.

I have the Switchback XT and love it. I have shot the Outback, but it was a while ago. Both great bows.
