What portable press
 

I want to do more of my own work and can't afford a full size bowpress. What portable gives the best bang for the buck? That might not be the best way to word that! I don't want it to ever go bang! LOL!

I know that Walks-with-a -Gimps was selling a very nice portable bow press. He built them at the time .I heard he doesnt sell any more. I wish I would of bought one when he was selling them, I was strapped for cash at the timeIt was the best looking portable I ever saw!

I have used the Bowmaster portable press for several years without
any problems. I do all of my own string changes and such and it has
done the job. If you want to press split limb bows you will need the split limb adapters. However I see you shoot a Diamond which is solid limbs.
I like to use the adapter even on solid limbs because I think it puts less pressure on them. Anyway that's what I use........

For the present I have to agree with Kicker. I'm on my second Bowmaster. My bench mounted press has not been used in at least 3 years, because I don't make adjustments at home. Bowmaster is a little slow, but I'm not into speed anymore--finesse.

One plus is that it packs into a case that can fit into your hip pocket. I also use the split-limb adapters, even on solid limb bows. Like anything, the more you use it the easier things get.

Oh, one drawback. It may not work on Liberty bows or some of thse others with about a 20" ATA. LOL

Bowmaster works great. I've used it to make draw length adjustments on both of my son's bows and also to install peep sights and other things. Easy to use and reliable.

Actually I'd recommend the Bowmender over the Bowmaster....and the best thing, the Bowmender is made by our own Walks with a Gimp....

The Bowmender is the best portable press on the market, bar none.

Last I heard, he WAS making them again... Run a search in the archery gear section of the classifieds.

I hear WWAG's press is good, but for the $40 or so I spent on the Bowmaster I can't see any draw back to it at all. Plus the Bowmaster is a bit more compact and can fit into my main archery tool box quite nicely. I have bailed quite a few people out at 3D shoots with it. I also bring it with me on all hunts.
