PA, I' m a beginner to bow hunting and am looking to buy my first bow. I was looking at the RazorTec. You said that there was other Hoyt bows that you would recommend for a beginner. What would those be and why? Thanks.

The 2003 CyberTec and UltraTec are 2 other HOYT' s that are just as great as the RazorTec but are longer axle to axle length bows. I loved all 3, but the RazorTec just felt perfect to me. PABowhntr' s fantastic review of the RazorTec helped me make my decision.

Nebraska Bowhunter,
I would probably either suggest the MTSport or Magnatec ZR200 in terms of a very good " beginners bow" . The reasons are rather simple. In comparison to the Razortec....both of these bows are longer in axle to axle length with at least the same amount of brace height. Plus, both bows are significantly less expensive. Retail for the Razortec in my area is around $600. Retail for Magnatec ZR200 is right around $300 while the MTSport is around $270.

I wish I could say that I was totally unbiased but after shooting quite a few Hoyt bows in the past 5 or so years I do not think that I am " totally unbiased" . It is hard not to be somewhat biased. Be sure to check out my review of the Bowtech Patriot DC below as well.

I had a chance to shoot several of the new Hoyts yesterday. I had actually travelled 60 miles to try the newest AR31 bow. The dealer was also a Hoyt dealer, so of course he had to stick some other bows in my hand to make my decision harder
The Cam & 1/2 shot great. I currently have a Darton Maverick, and the Hoyt was much nicer to shoot. The draw was smooth and the bow was whisper quiet. The dealer was shocked at how tight my groups were with mismatched, range arrows and no sights!
I am torn between the HavocTec and the AR31. I really like both bows, and they both shot awesome. Hoyt definitely has a winner!
