Short bow or long?
 

I am thinking about purchasing a new Trykon bow. I shot the xl and like it but have not seen the short version. What are the pros and cons of long and short? I am 6'2 with a 29.5 draw. I turkey hunt from tent blinds and tree stands for deer. I also shoot a release and not fingers. Thanks for any input.

well it is mostly just on your opinion some people like longer bows and some like shorter bows, the shorter bows will be much more moveable in a blind but it is all personal preferences.

Dmax, I had the same question with the Trykon and the Trykon XL. I am 6'4 and have a 30" draw, so i went with the XL. Most people say if you have a long draw go with a longer bow, but not always. I used to shoot a jennings that was 31" axle to axle. It was hard to keep a good pattern, but i did like it in the tree and in a blind. So, like Hoyt08 said...its personal opinion.

My draw is 29", and I feel comfortable with 36"+ bows

My draw is 32" witha loop (I am 6'7") I have always liked long ata bows during the 35+ years I have been shooting. I just bought a new mathews Switchback LD and I must tell you it is a dream to shoot. It realy surprised me with the feel and lack of vibration or hand shock. It is smoother than my Ovation which I am very pleased with.
Try both models of the Trykon out and then decide.

At 6'2", you're a pretty tall dude. You can go with a shorter axle to axle bow.. just remember..

The bigger bow is heavier and your arm won't move as much when you're at full draw. Thus, the bigger bow will be more accurate. I see too many guys shooting small bows and giving up accuracy.

Long is always more accurate. Name a good target shooter that shoots a 34" or shorter bow. They aren't out there. Do you notice that even the release guys will alot of times shoot a protec. It's because they are more accurate. Especially when you have poor form, for example when hunting.
