Reflex Highlander has arrived!!!!

Hey there.... Check it out.... This is my brand new 2006 Reflex Highlander is a lefty model. 30" draw, 65# draw weight, 75% letoff.

I have already added the following "goodies"
NAP Quiktune 1000
S-Coil Stablizer (salvaged off my old bow)
Tru-Glo 3 pin sights (salvaged off my old bow)

This bow is so sweet and feels great to draw. No squeaks or unevenness or anything. Silky smooth to draw. I just have to run it up to the bow shop and get it all adjusted and setup right for me.

Nice Lookin bow. I was going to get that bow . It was not availible in my area at the time.I bought a used bowtech. They have a good price on those bows. Probable the best deal on a quality bow there is. Congradulatons , Looks like it could kill a deer!

Good lookin bow. I'm sure you can't wait to put some arrows through it! It may not shoot too well though since it is one of those "wrong handed" bows;).

Thanks guys....

Yeah, I just talked to the bow shop and am taking it up to them this afternoon after work. They'll check it all over and get it all properly aligned and setup for me. They also recommended a string loop since the bow is 30" draw and medium to small ATA. Something about there might be too sharp a nock angle or string pinch. Funny thing is I've never used a string loop. I've always just clipped the release (Tru-Fire Magnum wrist release) directly onto the string.

WAY TO GO BUTCH!!!!!!! That is one sweet shooter right there! Yer gonna love it. Couldn't be happier for you!!!

It'll take some getting used to, but you are gonna really like the string loop I believe.

Nice bow ButchA!

Just an ignorantquestion:Can you attach a sling to a REFLEX bow, (specifically this model)? I have been looking at pictures of Reflex bows and haven't seen one with a sling. Sorry for the newbie question.:)

mobow 03-02-2006 04:31 PM

RE: Reflex Highlander has arrived!!!!

If you're talking of a wrist sling, absolutely. Attaches just the same as on any other.

RE: Reflex Highlander has arrived!!!!

UPDATE.... UPDATE.... UPDATE....

Guys, I just got back a little while ago from the bow shop. OMG, I feel like such a complete IDIOT!!!! [:o][:-][&o][>:]

You all remember how I used to shoot this old classic bow?
1996 PSE Edge Series 1000C, round wheel dual cam style.
http://members.aol.com/ammonc/PSE-1000Ca.jpg

All these years (okay I'm a seasoned rookie with 4 years of bow shooting) I have been shooting the wrong draw length!!! [&:] I was always a 30" draw. That's what I was told, so that's what I went with. Anyway, I brought my new Reflex Highlander to the shop and went over it with the guy. He had me do all sorts of stuff with drawing it, measuring me, changing the poundage, having me draw it again, etc...etc... This guy really checked the bow out and my bow form big time!

The very first time I drew it back, the guy was like, "Whoa whoa whoa... take it back down... You are WAY too long! Are you sure you're a 30" ? So I drew a "test bow" with a long arrow marker on it, and sure enough, I am a solid 29" draw.... not 30". I have been shooting an inch longer bow all this time?!?!

So, anyway, we talked about what I want to do, what I hunt, tree stands, etc... and then discussed arrows and releases and general bowhunting equipment and what is the best for me and the best for the bow. He looked up bow charts and tweaked the poundage up to 67# with a 29" draw and told me the old XX75 2315's might work but would have to be cut down, but then again why bother?

Long story short.... Here is the latest image of my brand new, right out of the box, 2006 Reflex Highlander. I got hooked up with the following equipment:

Scott Mongoose release
String loop
S-coil stablizer (from my old trashed PSE bow)
Camo wrist strap (from my old trashed PSE bow)
Tru-Glo 3 pin sights (from my old trashed PSE bow)
NAP Quiktune 1000 rest
BEMAN 340 ICS Hunter carbon arrows, cut to 29"
Bow is now 67# draw weight and 29" draw length
and is a work of art!!!

VAhuntr 03-02-2006 08:59 PM

RE: Reflex Highlander has arrived!!!!

You are definately not the first person tomake the draw lengthmistake. Youare using several accessories that I currently use. I shoot the Beman ICS camo hunter340's. Youshould reallyenjoy them, I know I do. I also recentlyswitched from my 15 year old Cobra pro caliper release to a Scott Mongoose. So far Iam very pleased.

So did you get to shoot the bow? Let us know how it shoots. Ahhhhh, there's just something about a new bow:D!

RE: Reflex Highlander has arrived!!!!

Butch, yer not a proud poppa, are ya??? [8D]

Don't sweat the draw length thing. It may be a difference with the cams and such too.

RE: Reflex Highlander has arrived!!!!

Thanks.... A few guys in the store were eyeballing my new bow as the guy was working on it and working with me and my setup. It gathered some attention because one guy saw it and said something like, "Hey is that an Ultra Sport (Hoyt)"? and then he noticed the "Reflex" name and looked confused. I told him that it is the brand new Reflex Highlander but with a Hoyt riser configuration. They discontinued the Reflex Grizzly and came out with the Highlander for 2006.

I can't wait for this afternoon when I get off work so I can shoot some arrows through it!!!! :D

Looks almost as good as my SuperSlam;)

RE: Reflex Highlander has arrived!!!!

Hey, yeah... The Super Slam is an awesome bow! [8D] I haven't shot one, but drew one back though. Very sweet. I have only shot the Reflex Grizzly before and loved it. I was told that the Highlander is essentially a Grizzly but a little more tricked up and faster with a 2" shorter ATA.

nice bow bud, way to go

RE: Reflex Highlander has arrived!!!!

Thanks...

I have officially shot my Reflex Highlander today 3/3 before dinner. I stood extremely close at about 5 yards away and nocked a new Beman ICS arrow and drew back on the Block 4X4 target.

TWACK!! The bow launched the arrow so fast that it literally scared me. I ain't afraid to admit it... I mean, I'm used theheavy, slow, old school dual cam bows @ (maybe) 220-225fps.

Then I stepped back a bit further to maybe 8 yards away and launched the same arrow. This bow is so fast, that I don't even feel it releasing. This is unbelievable!!! I mean, there is no hand shock. There is no vibration. And most importantly, there is no noise. The only noise I heard was the loud TWACK from Beman ICS arrow penetrating the Block 4X4.

THIS BOW IS NIGHT AND DAY FROM MY OLD ROUND WHEEL DUAL CAM BOW!! WHAT HAVE I BEEN MISSING ALL THESE YEARS?!?! :D[8D]

Tomorrow I will go back out and carefully mess with the sight pins, and figure if I should continue with the old salvaged Tru-Glo 3 pin sights, or upgrade to better sights.

In a nutshell: WOW, what a bow!!!! This bow is just like shooting the Hoyt ProTec! Reflex made a heck of a bow for the money! Watch the sales and watch how many of these bows they end up selling! This is incredible!!!

NICE LOOKIN BOW CONGRATS. CANT GO WRONG WITH A HOYT PRODUCT

ButchA 03-06-2006 09:34 AM

RE: Reflex Highlander has arrived!!!!

Thanks.... I was shooting it at both 10 yards and out to 20 yards over the weekend and absolutely LOVE IT!

I can't move the elevation allen screw on my old Tru-Glo sights (corroded/rusted) but was able to get the windage to break free, and then just moved the individual pins themselves to get it aligned. I don't want to go beyond 20 yards just yet as I'm still learning the bow and it's own unique handling. It is super fast, extremely quiet, and the most important thing that is amazing - there is NO hand shock or vibration at all! :D

I know this forum is kinda old by 2 weeks but i cant help it,my Reflex Highlander will be arriving by the end of the week,im getting it from Huntersfriend.com and having the Quicktune 4000 installed on it.I cant wait to start shooting it and getting ready for this season.

RE: Reflex Highlander has arrived!!!!

Hey that's cool, Lunker Hunter! :D

You will LOVE the Reflex Highlander! It is really a sweet bow and very lightweight, smooth drawing, quiet, and zero hand shock. The way I feel withbuying it, owning it, shooting it, etc...etc... it is basically a Hoyt Ultra Mag but with the Reflex name on the limbs.

What draw length are you? Mine got set to 29" and I had the bow set at 67# draw weight which made for a nice setup.

RE: Reflex Highlander has arrived!!!!

Congrats on your new Highlanders guys. I had a Reflex Grizzly for a while and ended selling it for a few reasons. First I was not measured properly by the twit who sold it to me and he sold me one that started at 27" and what I ended up with was a 26" bow when I replaced it. Secondly I was having torquing problems because of the old style grips they had and ended up removing them and shooting off the riser. And third I decided I wanted a shorter ATA, the grizz was 37" I think. All of these issues seem to have been adressed with the new Highlander. My guess If I had started with this new model Iwould still own it. My advice to you is to immediately replace the OEM strings buy a new custom set made buy Gibblett here on Huntingnet and to add a STS string stopper and you won't believe how that improves your bows. Enjoy your bows!!!!!!!!!

Replace the strings/cables? Why??? [&:] Hopefully I'm not opening up a can of worms, but is there something inferior about the OEM strings on Reflex bows?

Actually alot of OEM strings are not worth much, not just on Reflex but Hoyt also and Mathews too. I had a hard time keeping a peep in place on my Grizzly and a simple string change would solved the problem completely. Just keep the originals as spares. Even if you spend over $700.00 on a new bow these days sometimes you still need to upgrade the strings and cables.

Hey guys. Good luck on your new Reflex bows. I got mine in the late fall after I had already taken my deer. I had major back surgery this last july and I didn't think I would be able to hunt in the fall. I used to shoot an old Proline Point Blank and it was tough. I did manage to practice enough with the old bow to be able to hunt the rut. I scored a nice 8 pt. with the Proline. My wife had seen me struggling with it and when I suggested I update my gear. I ordered the Reflex but shot the buck 4 days befor I received it.
I have shot it a bunch and I can't tell you how pleased I am, but only into my block target.I may go out to Oklahoma to hunt some hogs with it next month. My old rodeo partner called and invited me down.
Good luck with your bows and good hunting.
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS

That's cool... I shoot Beman ICS Hunter 340's. I'd love to try Gold Tips in a 7595 one of these days. I can't wait to take this bow out into woods for deer season, butthere is a lot of time to play with it, and practice shooting from level ground and up in a tree stand.

Good luck with your Highlander!! :D

Hi everyone! I am new and I also have the Highlander Reflexand I love it. I do have a question though... Does anyone here know how to adjust the let off? Thanks

Hey there... Good luck with your Highlander. They are awesome bows!!! Mine is perfect and has been with me bowhunting all through the archery season. I love it dearly. :D

As far as the letoff, I think a bowshop has to do that. There is another cam module that switches it from 75% letoff to 65%.

Yea I got mine in the middle of the 2006 season and in 2 weeks I had put 2 deer down. Very nice bow, you will not be dissapointed with it.
