PSE Bows

Are they good for hunting use? Any experience with them?

I love my PSE Vengeance. I bought it this past spring and it is phenominal. I tried Hoyt, Reflex and PSE before buying. Of all the bows I shot, the PSEs were quieter and had less hand shock. With my setup I was able to tune it for <5" 5 shot groups at 40 yds with broadheads. Before the Vengeance I had a Nova until I grew out of it. Both bows seem well made and I love 'em.

Here's a few pics:
-My bow and then the BB I took at 35 yds this year. My second bowkill ever:D

PSE is a great company, also Browning which is made by PSE. The Vengeance, Illusion are top end great shooting bows. I would highly reccommend them.

I have an old PSE Polaris bow and have hunted with it for years. Shoots fine - it is a little bit heavier than the newer bows. I just got another PSE bow a 3-year old "Beast" in Left Hand and it really shoots nice - lighter and much quieter. Both are #60 - #70, I usually have tehm set about mid-range and they have good penetration at 40 yards.

Good hunting bows!

I have an 03 PSE Triton and I love it. Great bow. It is out of the pro series line of PSE. I think you can get the whole package for like $529. It is a great bow in my opinion.

No, the other bow in the picture is my Dad's PSE Nova. It is an older bow, not sure of the year though.

PSE bows are a great hunting bow. I shoot a vengance with the NRG hybrid cams. With any new bow I would suggest spending the extra money and buy a winners choice string. With that if you don't have a lot tuning experience you may want to look at just the NRG cam and not the hybrid. It will be easier to keep in tune. I guide in UT.and WY. I hunt anything from bobcats, mountain lion,to deer and elk. my bows hold up great. But anything you buy i'm sure will be great with good shot placement.

I bought a PSE Scorpion last October and I really like it alot. I owned a PSE Beast before that and had no trouble with them. Well I had a bit of trouble with the scorpion, but it was due to improper initial setup. By no means a bow error just my stupidity with my anchor point.

PSE is on the top w/ the others. There bows are as good as anyones. Pse haswon almost all ASA pro-am shoots. For hunting or competition you cant go wrong w/ one.

I shoot and own a PSE Mach 10, I can't remember exactly, but I think it is 7 years old.

So when I tell you that PSE's are not as advanced technically as the newest bows, I am not bashing the brand. The PSE line does not have anything that is across the board as good as the newest Hoyts, Mathews and even BowTechs. Shoot them all side by side and you'll see for yourself. Their best quality is you can usually get into a decent hunting bow fully equipped for under $500 and that just isn't going to happen with the very best out there. They make a mass produced bow and do tons of catalog sales. A great hunting/starter bow, but do not expect performance on par with the best bows. These bows do kill critters just fine though!

MaJay What bows of PSE have you shot lately ? I have shot all the new ones out there and in my opinion they are all great. I think PSE has as good a quality bow as all the others. Have you shot the new Browning Illusion? It is an awesome bow and has to be the quietest bow on the market. I think PSE is back on track and I think they will be giving the others a run for there money. My suggestion to all is shoot them all and see which one fits the best.

I bought a PSE Nova back around 1997. It is a great bow and have taken many deer with it.

It is hard to find a bad bow now.All companys make decent products. There are so many it is hard to keep up with them all.Just remember the more parrallel the limbs the smoother and less vib.If you are looking Martin Saber is alot of bow for cheap. No I am not a sellsman or have anything to do with Martin .I also shoot a Bowtech and Mathews so when I say Saber it is for real.Good luck with what ever you choose I am sure you will love shooting it.:D

I have the PSE Super G, got it for Christmas this year. It is my first bow so i don't really have a lot to compare it to, but i like it well so far. Only complaint being that the rest that came on it seemed to be crap. First time i messed with it the little screws stripped out. I had planned onswitching to a biscuit anyway so that wasn't a huge deal... If theres anything in particular that you want to know i might be able to help. later, kyle

Thanks robinsok for replying, I was just wondering what the draw was like, if there is a lot of hand shock, is it a loud bow, and if you know how fast it is? My nova shoots at 210fps with a 28 in draw and at 65lbs. Obviously I am going to shoot it to find out for myself but it may be a month or so, any thing about it would be appreciated. Thanks.

No problem man... I think the draw is pretty smooth, i have had pretty good luck with it so far.. I don't think it's loud no, and i don't feel like it has a lot of hand shock, but like i said, this is my first bow. I haven't shot the bowtechs, and matthews, and hoyts and such because i knew i wasn't gonna be spending that much money when i bought mine. So i don't know how it compares to those. Wish i could explain more, but thats what i got.. :) I have not chronoed it yet either, and i have it set at sixty pounds at the moment. Check it out if you geta chance, i really like it. Good for the money i think. Good luck on your choice man..

I use an Nova and have also tried the GForce - nice bow and is similar to the Nova in let off and feel. I agree withthe durability - nothing like a PSE for reliability. I have a budwho shootMathews and calls my bow"Pretty Sh#tty Equipment" and I agree his bow does shoot smooth theisreal nice to handle, but I think PSEless susseptable to damagefromdropping/banging etc.

I started bowhunting with a PSE Thunderbolt dual cam about then years ago, I recently switched to Archery Research in 2004. My buddy is still hunting with the thunderbolt and it has dropped its fair share of deer, hogs, and bear.
