What Brand of Arrows?
I am wondering what you guys think is the best Carbon arrow on the Market. Out of the brands: Carbon Express, Easton, Beman....etc.
Thanks a lot |
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
Oh boy...here we go again!!! Since nobody else is jumping in...I will be the first to speak up and get slapped down.:D
I have done allot of research and these are the arrows I had as my top picks for hunting...not target shooting. Gold Tip XT Hunter Pro Gold Tip Ultra Light Pro Easton A/C/C Easton Super Slims Carbon Tech WhiteTails XP Carbon Tech Rhinos XP I don't think you can go wrong with any of these. How did I pick from the list above? Well I first ruled out the arrows that in my opinion required a 125 grain tip to get the FOC I was looking for at my spine and arrow length. The 125 grain tips are over-kill for my purposes, so that took 3 out of the list above. That left me with 3 remaining. I then did some testing and asking around for strength #1, accuracy #2and consistancy #3and narrowed it down to one arrow from the list above. As you can see my vote is for the Carbon Tech WhiteTail Arrows. If I was shooting a 125 grain tip I would have got the Carbon Tech Rhinos or the Easton Super Slims. If I find something better, I will be the first to change my vote. To avoid any conflict with other members I will make the closing statement of...this is only my opinion for my purposes.:) |
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
I use Carbon Exspress arrows.
The Good: Very Accurate,Very Durable The Bad: Fairly Expensive |
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
Carbon Tech Whitetail XP's for me.

RE: What Brand of Arrows?
A/C/C.
I'm not a fan of all carbon arrows but the Carbon Express Maximas look really nice. |
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
I've only used the Super Carbon Magnum Arrows, but they work great for me.

RE: What Brand of Arrows?
I shoot the Gold Tip Pro Hunters but I have to say the Carbon Experss Maximas do look like something I want to try.
|
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
I have had excellent luck with certain GT's, Super Carbon Supreme (no longer made) and Patriot arrows. I did just get off the phone with Super Carbon (Parker Bows) and they told me that when their stock is gone, they are getting out of the arrow shaft business.

RE: What Brand of Arrows?
Always shot Gold Tip prohunters, but changed to Beaman ICSs this year andhave been very happy. Two shots=two dead deer, both less than 100 yards from the stand. Can't argue with those results.
|
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
carbon force radial x weave pro's or hunters.
|
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
They're both the same brand if I'm reading you right?
|
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
yes
|
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
All i have to say is Easton Axis! They are really light and a nice small arrow. I've debating on buying them but dont have the money...but what can ya do? haha
|
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
I have been shooting Beaman ICS Huntersfor the past five years. This year I am going with the GT Ultrlights.I guess time will tell.
|
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
Either CX's or Easton Axis's
|
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
I use Gold Tip... and I think they are great, especially for hunting.
Fat-Arrow |
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
I dont care about the best.I want to know price and quality together.I hog huint and tear up alot of arrows.Hate to waste a twenty dollar arrow and broadhead every shot.
|
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
I've tried nearly every carbon shaft mentioned above and IMHO, the CX 3D Select is the absolute top-of-the-line in carbons! You haven't tried carbon until you've shot these.
|
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
Gold Tip and Easton fan.
|
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
easton axis is what i shoot
|
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
i started out with beman ICS hunters--went on to ICS camo--then went to CX terminators selects (tough, heavy arrow!!)---then graduated tothe CX MAXIMA'S. i will stay with the maximas, they are very nice and shoot great!! the bad news is they are not cheap, but in this case you get what you pay for!! if you want a soild, heavy arrow get the CX terminators selects--if you want a light, flat shooting arrow then get the CX maximas, you won't be sorry. good luck, have fun

RE: What Brand of Arrows?
Let me see…..first off, I started getting small cracks from nock end of 3 arrows within the 3rd time at the range. Keep in mind I baby these arrows and only shoot groups at 60 yards. Anything closer gets 1 arrow per mark on target. Now I have 2 more doing the same thing, so I was down to 7 arrows after spending $126 for the dozen. Now I am down to 6 arrows. Why? Well I got tired of worrying about these arrows being too weak, so I did my own test. I figured losing a $10.50 arrow was worth the peace of mind. I took one of my .400 spine Gold Tip XT Hunters and shot it into a concrete wall. It went about 1.5 inches deep in wall and drove tip and insert inside shaft diameter. Tip was split, but arrow stayed in the wall.
I then took one of my Carbon Techs Whitetail 300 spine arrows and did the same thing. The arrow just disintegrated when it hit the wall. Pieces were everywhere. Took me like 5 minutes to find all the pieces. I even looked at some of the larger pieces and found that the core or inner smooth carbon wrap was separated from the exterior cross-cut wall carbon wrap layer. Reminded me of the difference between a bonded long range quality bullet and one that was not bonded. The bullet not bonded usually sheds it’s jacket from the core of bullet on impact. This reduces weight of bullet and as you know penetration of bullet. Not good. To top it all off and knowing from experience that something stinks. I then called a few dealers of Carbon Tech and was doing the best I could, to get them totalk aboutwhy they like these arrows so much. Sometimes what works is you have to walk people down a road to get them to state the truth. I learned this trick from my brother who works for the highway patrol. Seriously…he can get a drug user to admit they have drugs on them, then there is no need for probable cause. Funny stuff! Anyway, back to the topic… Well 2 dealers where actually “honest” enough to admit that they sale them because they have the highest profit margin. Meaning they make more money off of CT arrows than any other arrow in the house. One guy even went into detail on how many dozen arrows he can sale and make the same profit as compared to selling a new bow. He took the bait and then some. :DSo there you go, I spilled the beans and have told you all I know. Yes these CT’s are very accurate and yes I talked up a storm about them. I’m once again the internet fool and stand here to take the beating that I deserve. [:@]If they were free…I would use them for target, hunting no. |
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
Now you got me wanting to do the concrete wall test with my Carbon Tech's and some old Gold Tip's.

yeah,i definately have not had the splitting problem like yourself, but then again i am not stacking arrows as tight as you either.;)P.S. it looks like you need to change your sig now.:D

Either way I'm out for now. Glad yours are working great. I hope I'm not going to miss the accuracy these arrows produced. I'll change my sig as soon as I decide what to order up. |
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
I would venture to say that most of your accuracy came from you.I don't think you'll miss much.

RE: What Brand of Arrows?
To the guy who originally posted about this, if you are looking for an arrow to shoot hogs with, and don't want to spend too much money, I'd probably go with Carbon Express Terminator Selects. I had a bunch of these that came with my Pro 38 Dual Cam bow. They did shoot well, are very tough, and reasonably priced. Mine were used, so I don't have any idea how much they were shot and into what targets. The only down side I can remember is that only 5 of the 9 arrows I had would really group broadheads together, but again, what the previous owner did with them is anyone's guess. The one I shot a big doe with did break off inside the deer, but penetrated from the last ribs on the left side and broke the right shoulder on exit. She did kind of jerk around when the arrow was going through.
I have also tried CX camo arrows, Blackhawk Vapors, Axis, Arrow Dynamics Stingers and Traditionals, and Carbon Tech Cheetahs. Out of these the Cheetahs have been by far the most impressive overall. Great shooting arrows, the only all carbons I've had that can hang in there with ACCs when shooting broadheads. I'm surprised by the weakness claim with the Whitetails. I've had no nock area problems with the Cheetahs, though I now have unibushings in them. The seemed pretty tough when I've shot through my bag target into the concrete wall, but I never thought about shooting directly into the wall. They also seemed to hold up accuracy wise to more shooting. The Axis I had were great when new, then I started to have grouping issues after a few months. I put those arrows on my spinner, and the wobbled badly after a few months, where they had spun pretty well when new. |
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
Seriously if all yuou are doing is hog hunting.. I would buy some cabelas carbon arrows... My buddy shoots them and actually does really well! He even beat me in a shoot... I am even thinking about giving them a try! Hell of alot cheaper then my Gold Tips!

RE: What Brand of Arrows?
Carbon Express Maxima or Gold Tip XT Hunter Pro
i prefer Maximas |
RE: What Brand of Arrows?
I like the GT 55/75XT Hunters. I also shoot CX 400's (a bit heavier but goup nearly identical) and Maxima 350's. They are all excellent arrows. If on a tight budget, buy the best arrows you can afford and practice, practice, practice.....For the money, GT's offer the XT's in black and camo, with the black being very affordable. I prefer the camo, it's a little lighter and the pattern just looks great, but they are about 15-20 bucks a dozen more expensive. Still, cheaper than either the CX's or Maxima's.

RE: What Brand of Arrows?
I mainly use Carbon Express and Easton arrows.
