string leeches
i was looking to quiet my bow down alot and still keep the small amount of speed i still have. I was on archerytalk.com and found people saying that string leeches put their bow out of tune bigtime. they couldn't ever get the arrow to fly straight. anyone have the same problems. I shoot instinctive so every now and then i get a strange flyer, but will the leeches create more problems orsolve my noise problem.

RE: string leeches
I have used them for a couple of years on two different bows and haven't experienced any problems.

RE: string leeches
When I first put them on a year and a half ago they did not change my point of impact and cannot say that I had any strange fliers.

RE: string leeches
I have never had a problem with them.

Had them on my old bow and they worked great.

RE: string leeches
I haven't had any tuning issues, but I have had durability issues. I switched to Bowjax. They say they add 1 to 3 fps. They are much more rigid than the string leeches and last a ton longer. They have two kinds. One fastens over your string by way of cut ties. The other (the one that I am using) slips over your bow string. I prefer the second type and have been very happy with them.
I was happy with the performance of the string leeches, but the durability just wasn't there for me. The ends would get torn off after under 100 shots. I you tie them in, they will last longer, but it's just easier and cheaper to get the Bowjax. Hope this helps you out. Jim |
RE: string leeches
I have been using them the last couple years. Haven't had any problems with mine. I shoot quite a bit in the summer. Don't really remember having to put new ones on to often.I just check them once in a while, just pull on the side a little, pretty easy to check for wear. Mine have seem to hold up pretty good w/ a #62 draw weight. I just go a head and replace them when the archery season starts. Don't shoot as much then, just a few shots before I head out.
