Arrows

How much accuracy difference is there between carbon and alumminum? I shoot alumminum and they shoot fine but i wonder if i switched to carbon if it would make a dramatic accuracy impact

Aluminum are probably going to be the most accurate. They have better straightness, often to .0015, compared to carbons .003 average. If they are bent, they will be less accurate. They are also heavier on average, which will cause the arrow to drop faster if you are off by a couple of yards.

Carbon shafts are lighter, which makes them faster. If you are off by a couple of yards, you will not notice as great of a drop at aluminums.

There is not much difference between them though. I don't think most people would be able to tell the difference between them.

well i shoot alumminum and am thinking of switching so the only main difference is how fast they drop

Generally speaking, carbon arrows fly faster. They are smaller diameter, lighter and less wind resistance. This reisistance is what allows the carbons to flyflatter. Having said that, one of my bows shoots aluminums 292 fps. Oh, it's also a 7 year old bow.

You can get lighter aluminum arrows as well. There are quite a few out there. I personally like carbons better because they take more abuse than aluminums. You can bump and bang them together on the practice range and they are less effected. Not that they don't get hurt, though.
