broadheads and targets
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Montec practice broadheads that are just like the real deal, but not sharp blades to reduce wear on the target? I've always hunted with mechanical NAP's, but I'm wanting to switch to a fixed blade after I saw my dad hit a rib with a mechanical, and have his arrow completely stopped. How would a target like The Block handle a regular fixed blade broadhead? Is it worth the 15 bucks for the practice heads or could I just buy some extra blades? Any and all advice is appreciated.
God Bless, Matt |
RE: broadheads and targets
I have no experience with the Montecs yet but I have the Block and
have been shooting Thunderhead 100's in it and it does fine. Just becareful when it is cold outside. I was practicing just last Sunday and everything was fine until it started cooling off outside and I noticed the arrows started getting harder to pull. Next thing I know, I pulled an arrow and it had no broadhead or insert. I looked at the other arrow I was using and the insert was starting to come out of it. I don't see any way of getting the broadhead out of the target so I will have to quit shooting at that dot. |
RE: broadheads and targets
i pulled one of my broadhead out of my "Cheap" block and must have twisted the arrow pullin it out cause it was loose and one of the blades pulled out, and i was shotin' at it the other day and i must have shot the blade out the back of the target.
As for the montec's could not say, but i do not that they do not have replaceable blades, they are cast to the ferrule so that it is one piece. But i do believe that they are resharpenable, but i would just get the practice heads. just my .10 |
RE: broadheads and targets
I alway's just use extra blades.Keep the dull ones to practice.I alway's
change the blades right before going into the wood's.If it won't shave the hair off my arm i wont hunt with it! |
