How old is too old for a bow?...I keep seeing things about people getting the newest bows and trading in their old ones...but what about all the older ones...i have a 99 hoyt that i just bought....i mean whats the general guidlines?....do the limbs start going bad or something...or is it more of a race for who has the newest bows?

Man....let me tell ya. My Brother changes bows every year it seems like.
He thinks he has to shoot the latest and greatest. Its an addiction.
My best hunting buddy has shot the same bow for 15 years and kills deer with the best of them.
I'm not much of a "Techy"...you know the types, have to tinker and what not with
the new gear. I've been bowhunting for 18 years and have owned 3 bows. They all have killed deer.
If anything I'll change to a new rest, sight, quiver, peep, stuff like that, but
I'll stick with what I have for a bit and spend my major dollars on other habits.
Unless money is falling from the sky..keep that bow, shoot it until you ABSOLUTELY must buy another one...
Remember..He who dies with the most toys is still dead.

I usually get a new bow every two to five years depending on what is out there and if it will give me something different or possibly better than what I have. Sometimes people purchase a bow that they think they really like and after shooting it for a while decide it isn't really what they wanted and sell and buy a new bow.
Some people shoot tournaments and get shooter discounts so that the companies can showcase their newest bows on the tournament trail.
Many many different reasons.
