Carbon Arrows
 

I just purchased a bow and have learn to shoot pretty good with it. While shooting with aluminun arrows they have become bent and some broke. A friend told me that carbon was better. Is that true if so what type and size to buy

first i would go to a pro shop and ask them . they are a lot of carbon arrows out their . i like pse their not as high as the other

I found the best carbon arrows are the Redhead Carbon Supreme from Bass Pro Shops.

Welcome to the board!

There are a lot of good quality carbon arrows out there. I personally like the Beman ICS Hunters but there are many other good ones. A pro shop could set you up with a half-dozen or so that are cut to your proper length and spined correctly (the right stiffness) for your bow.

Carbons are a great choice if you are starting out since the can take a lot of abuse. Be sure to check them for damage on a regular basis since a damaged carbon arrow can 'self destruct' into sharp splinters if you shoot it.

I think carbon is better than aluminum. Definitely. I tried the Goldtip and would not try them again for reasons of quality. I know little about the others mentioned but can tell you I am perfectly satisfied with the Carbonaeros by Easton. They are straight, durable and will do the job. Taken two deer this year with them.

i like the redhead carbon supremes too. theyre the cheapest ive found so far, and the only ones that are spined right for my bow.

Carbons are great but there is a reason that you are bending and breaking your aluminum arrows. Thats the first thing you have to look at. It may be your target or your back stop.
One thing nice about aluminum arrows,they can be bent back close to specs if you use an arrow straightener. Some pro shops can do that for you if you can't.
Problem with carbons - if you do hit it good, you may get a crack in the shaft and not know until it splinters out of your bow. Plus carbons will cost you more but prices are coming down.
Look at why your present arrows are doing what they are.
I've wasted a lot of arrows in my day. Getting better with practice. I use ACCs, which is an aluminum carbon composite. Better strength than pure carbons but can be straightened out if not too bad. Still need to look for cracks.

One of my buddies just sent me a dozen Gold Tips. They seem to fly really well.
