Bowtech Tomkat Vs. Mighty Mite VFT
 

Hey guys, i'm a new member to this forum, as well as bowhunting itself. ive been into bowhunting for around 6-8 months, and just outgrew my pse nova. i liked the way the nova shot, just liked the way my friend's mathew's and bowtech's shot better. money is kind of an issue (i will be buying new due to bad experiences 2nd hand with other things), so if you can tell me why the mighty mite is better than the tomkat, you'd be saving me 2 hundred bucks for accessories. if you have first hand experience with either, that would be great if you'd let me know your opinion. the only one i have shot was the mite and i was pleased, just wondering the diff. between it and the tomkat.

mightymite comparing to my old HCA has a lot of hand torque, my 2 cents. It will require a decent stabalizer, if you would like a speed count they push about 290 fps with everything on the string.

Points to remember, put some wax or something on the draw module screws, keep an eye out on the string silencers, if they creep on you, the one on the bottom on the harness "I Think" can be drawn threw the cam as it cycles, can be dangerous. Tune it from the get go, don't rely on levels and lazers. As much as they can get close they are not perfect.

Have had good luck so far with the Muzzy Zero Effect for arrow rest. It did take some getting used to and fine tuning but is working fine now.

Good Luck and choose what you think is most comfortable.

thanks for your input, but ive been reading these threads for a couple of days now, and i think i am going to go with the cheaper bowtech series.. the diamond rapture looks great to me, and is comparable to the triumph which i have shot first hand. sincei am starting up bowhunting, and if i get seriously into it, i will move to a nicer bow in the next 3-5 years.

If you get a Diamond my guess is you won't be in a hurry to upgrade.

I had a bowtech mighty mite that I loved, it was fast, easy to shoot and smooth had no problems with it, if the vision in my right eye had not started failing I wouldnt have sold it. Now I have found a contact and my vision is back to just about where it should be and I will be buying another mighty mite. I guess you can say I prefer mighty mite. :)

I'm no expert but to my understanding the main difference is that the mighty mite has better limb pockets and a little more speed than the tomkat. Not alot of difference though. I shoot the tomkat and absolutely love it.

I have owned both the Mighty Mite and the Diamond Triumph and I must say that there isn't much of a difference between them in terms of overall feel and shooting characteristics. If you were looking to save money without sacrificing much performance then the Triumph would be a good choice. I haven't tried the Rapture yet but considering the price and the rest of the lineup I am sure it is a nice shooter.

I just went through the same qunadry you are going through now. I shot a lot of bows. I ended up with a Patriot but only because a dealer sold it to me for dealer cost because it was a special order and the guy stood them up.
In shooting the Bowtech shorter bows (Mighty Mite, Defender, Justice and Tom Kat) I liked the buttery smoothness of the Justice (a shorter Liberty) but the speed fell off a bit from the others. The Defender (shorter Allegience) I shot kicked the manure out of the others as far as arrow speed goes. The Mighty Mite although it has an faster advertised arrow speed it just couldn'tkeep up withthe Defender and its dual cams.
For the money it's tought o beat the Tom Kat. You get the full meal deal with sights, rest, sling,etc. for far less than the other bows and you'll still have money left to buy arrows a nice release and maybe even a lazer range finder. The Tom Kat is a heck of bang for the buck! IfI were in your shoes I'd buy one and enjoy it and when and if the finances permit you can always upgrade but you'll never forget the fun times you had afield with your Tom Kat.
I noticednew Tom Katsare really cheap on E bay but beware. I don't know how hard over they are but Bowtech's owners manual makes a point of saying they will not offer a warranty on bows purchased over the internet.
