Crossbow Scopes

My handicapped son is going to try bowhunting this year with a crossbow and he wants to put a scope on it. I have seen crossbow scopes everywhere but I was wondering if anyone out in this forum has used just a regular rifle scope on one. I have several good scopes just laying around collecting dust and would rather put one of these on the bowrather than put out the bucks for a specialty scope if a regular scope would work. His crossbow is a Horton Yukon SL, 150 draw weight.

the problem putting on a regular scope is that you can't sight it in for 10, 20, 30 and so yards but the crossbow scopes have 3-5 different elevationcrosshairs for different ranges

THAT DEPENDS ON HOW FAR HE IS GOING TO SHOOT? 30 YARDS MAX? IF SO JUST SIGHT IT IN AT 25 YARDS HE WILL DO FINE.

A regular scope will work just fine.

Sight in to hit dead on at 25 yards and you will remain in the kill zone to 35 yards. Give or take a little.

Paralax might be a problem if it's a higher than 4x magnification or variable . I bought a crossbow specific scope for mine , but a 2x-4x rifle scope should do well too .
