Another one corrupted....
 

Did I say corrupted?? I meant introduced.

We took out another bowfishing newbie last weekend. (another HuntingNet staffer no less... slowly but surely I will corrup....er... introduce them all to bowfishing.)

We hit the Kankakee River in Wilmington IL in the early am. We might have gotten there a bit sooner if our newbie 'Lucky' Lance hadn't gotten a speeding ticket on the way to our house. 48mph in a 40mph zone. (who gets a ticket for 8 over in IL???) Sheesh.

Anyhow, we knew that Lance was okay when we unfurled the Jolly Roger on the boat and he didn't bail. He didn't even seem too worried that our 18hp motor seemed to be missing at least 9 of it's horses.

Lance quickly learned the secret skill and technique of successful bowfishers...... otherwise known as....'Put a lot of arrows into the water'.

E.J.D. had hit the waters before sun-up and scored on several fish under the boat lights. He then picked up Banana-Bulzeye who apparently can't shoot straight with us pirates around. He walked the shore after we left and managed to redeem himself by landing two carp. (or so he says.... I say show me the pictures... ;) )

The Carp Control boat ended the morning with 4 carp. Which wasn't too bad considering a cold front had pushed most of the fish deep. One person didn't boat a fish.... but we won't name names... right Jeremy?

Amazingly the motor managed to get us all the way back to the launch but I think we drowned two more ponies in the process. [:@]

Yea woohoo!!!! Bow fishing is alot of fun i haven't done it in a long time nothing like sticking a 6 foot long alligator gar. LOL was pulling me and my jon boat all over the place that fish had more pony's then my 30 lbs thrust trolling motor i couldnt catch up fast enough to reel in the slack.

I got pics of those 2 carp, and the 4 more I got at the same spot Tuesday morning.
I just can't post 'em cuz my home computer is as dead as your motor. [>:]

I can post text from work, but can't install the software here to download the pics from my camera.
...and I'm not about to go to Walmart and pay for a whole CD with only 2 pics on it just to satisfy a pirate. :D
You're just going to have to wait to see them.

Got to get me some waders. There are buffalo all over that area, just out of range from the shore, of course.

Bulzeye ('naner-boy) just sent me some photos to post.

He says these are the carp that he shot out on the Kank. I dunno.... I see some dead fish and a nice looking dog.

For all I know the dog shot the carp.

I must admit, my dog Murphy is pretty handy with a bow, but the fish are mine.
He's just standing guard in case pirates attempt to pillage my bounty.
I hear from the grapevine they've been seen in these here parts.

We went out on Saturday. Started around 5am. The generator ran just spiffy. (it's almost as much fun getting weird looks from the people trying to sleep in their boats as it is shooting at the fish. The generator doesn't wake them... it's the 2000watts of lights.. heh heh heh)

Anyhow, the river was very murky so we didn't really get a lot of shots. Plus we had Bulzeye with us and I think he's bad luck. Kind of like everything is Jeremy's fault.

I did ka-bob a big buff, but Jim threw it back in a fit of jealousy. :) Bulzeye didn't want any carp slime on him so kept bouncing his arrows of the fish's heads.

The gar were out, we saw several. Some nice sized ones too.

On the upside. I was able to take some hostages.....


Bulzeye, If you ever want to see them again, meet us down at Shelbyville. (or give me your address... heh heh heh)

I WAS going to say thanks for taking me out, but now that my crew is being held at knife point by your band of ruffians, I'm not sure that I should give you the satisfaction.

First, let's get the story straight...there was no bouncing of arrows on my part. (although they did look slimey)
They were 2 good hits and the fish were on my arrow for several seconds. The fish just chose to sacrifice themselves by fighting their way off the arrow rather than being hauled aboard. I salute their courage.


My crew has wisely taken a different approach...
Upon discovering they had been left alone behind enemy territory, they simply surrendered and told all they knew.
Thus living by the old adage of "live to pour coffee another day".
My informants tell me they are planning an escape as we speak.

Went out monday...still murky, and the wind was bad! Didnt even get a shot off.
Come to think of it.....I have one of bulzeyes sunglass cord thing you use to keep em on your head..whatever they call it!

Smart move ban... err I mean bulzeye, don't give her your address... the phone is bad enough. I had to move 800 miles away to escape... I think she still has a frisbee of mine hostage, if it is still alive. It put up quite a fight though, she was running all over the place to catch it (heh heh).

Glad to know someone is filling my shoes (not getting any into the boat). Watch out for the ruffians, they may be small but they are quite viscious.
