First trips of the year
I went bowfishing for the first time this year on spring break in Florida. The first day it was really windy and cloudy so I just got some invasive ugly sucker catfish, don't know what they are called. Then today I went back out and it was still windy but I did better and got 3 tilapia, a mullet, and a bowfin. I was happy with 3 new species in one day! I also had 2 tilapia, 2 mullet, and a bowfin about twice as big as this one come off after I hit them. The big bowfin wrapped me around a tree and untwisted the tip. I always regret it when I don't use the garpon tips! I heard the carp are getting ready to spawn back in Tennessee, can't wait to get back and hunt some.

Nice!
Those are plecostomus suckers. Weird looking critters. Great bowfin and I sure would like to get into some tilapia. Congrats. |
RE: First trips of the year
Yup. Plecos! We shoot them all the time. I can't stand touching those things. I never felt a fish that had sand paper for skin! LOL!! Great Job.

RE: First trips of the year
I'd really like to shoot some plecos and of course, tilapia. Things that you don't see in IL. (other than in a pet store or grocery store)
One of these days, I'm going to Florida. |
