Bowfishing australia

Gday fellas.I am going to buy a PSE bowfishing pack very soon. Its $200 and its a take down recurve.Although bowfishing is illegal over here if you are taking carp the rangers are pretty good about it.What i am after though is one of those closed face reels.I saw a few vids on youtube with blokes using them. What sort of reels are you blokes using?

I use an AMS Retriever reel.

Has there been any attemptsto get bowfishing legalized over there?

I remember talking to an Austrialian Fisheries Biologist here in the states (carp symposium) and he thought that it could be legalized fairly easily.

I dont think so buddy. With the climate we have here in the way of doogooders and greenies it would be near imposible. When ever there is a roo cull they all set up deck chairs and watch or intrude on the cull. They would rather the roos starve to death than be humanely shot. But dont get me started on them.

Get as much info as you can on the invasive/exotic ecologocal ramifications of carp. Push, push, push how culling carp is envri-friendly. How bowfishing for carp is saving native species. Are the game laws there set by the public or by biologists?

by the way, love your avatar.

Thanks fishhunter.I love the avatar too.Its of no use to even try to debate with the greens or govt about implamenting bowfishing be it for feral introduced fish. They dont give a toss and there are nearly no govt measures in place to control or get rid of carp numbers. In the ACT(australian capital territory) there are no rules about native fish.Only trout. The rules all over australia (except ACT)say NO carp are to be released. Same as the introduced english perch or redfin. But in ACT there is a course fishing club which catches heaps of carp and at the end of the day lets the whole lot go.I nearly got into a blue over it when i stopped to see what was going on and i found out they let them all go.Tere are too many gutless turdsuckers here mate. They have forgotten how we got here and what it was like in the old days.
