looking to get started- please help
hey guys, im wanting to get started in bowfishing. i would like some suggestions on equipment. i really dont want to spend too much money on this first setup. i want a compound.
thanks! |
RE: looking to get started- please help
So do you have an extra compound to shoot or not?
If so, all you need is a reel seat, reel (Zebco 808....jmo), line, and an arrow. You can find all that online at Cabelas, Bass Pro, ect. Take a minute and look through these post on the bowfishing forum. There is a lot of other people who have asked about what they needed to get started and some really great responses. Best of luck to ya |

If you are looking for a cheap beginners bow made for bowfishing....AMS Fishhawk and Browning Barracuda are both right at 200 bucks and great bows.
If you go with a bottle retriever, it will be about 20 bucks more upfront but will last forever, I dont think it is possible to break one.:D Another option that is more convenient and quicker to use is a reel seat and spincast reel. A Synergy TI20, Zebco 808, Zebco 888, etc. will all work. My favorite is the 888. It has less plastic parts than the 808, more metal means less things to break. They are nearly identical reels though. Just remeber to push the button religiously, or else you will loose arrows and possibly strip out gears in the reel. I have and use both. I prefer the reels more but pick up an extra because they are prone to problems...probably due to human error.[8D] |
