reel problems...
i went carp slaying today in a boat- for the first time. (usually i slay from bridges or by stalking) and my line in my reel got stuckk on the side of the retriever wheel twice. sux cuz of missed opporunities. why does this happen? what can i do to stop it?

Mudkat line guide!
I'm not a retriever expert but it looks like when ever I've seen this happen, it's because of not holding the reel straight at the line. If it's at an angle it pulls off the wheels. Here is the best picture we have with the guide on her old Oneida. ![]() |

What line are you using? If you're using the thin white line that came with the reel, get rid of it. Get the thicker, stronger line and you'll be fine.

i shoot the thicker green line that came with the reel. i think they said its 200 or 300lb test. and yeah i think carpsniper is right about allthat business. where can i git a mudkat?

Use the thicker line as mentioned. I use the 400 lb. FF and works great for me. You could go to a spnner, but you will have to buy quite a few cases of them to last as long as the retriever.....LOL
