Carp in deep waters?

In a few ditches by my house there are a lot of carp.you can see them moving up and down a lot and get a few shots , but what kind of bait can i use that floats to get them to come up?

I have found dog food to work to get carp up from deep water. I have heard bread will also work. I have four dogs so dry dog food around here is no problem.

Do you need to "chum " the water with the dog food for awhile so the fish start coming to the bait.......or can you just toss some out and wait for them to rise to be stuck!?

I would chum the water a couple days at about the same time. This way they will know that it is food and will actually climb over each other to get to it.
