Welcome TEmbry15, Your bow is plenty. If you are planning on using the AMS retriever reel, Make sure you also use AMS safety slides on your arrows. See this thread; http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=1632771
I'm not a retriever user myself so I can't suggest a line type for you. I think larger diameter is better for the pinch rollers to grab. Other than that, Stay safe and have fun! |

Retriever is a great reel for beginers reel. Use 200lb Muzzy Extreme for all around shooting. I use 400lb fast Flite for stingrays and when I shoot longnose gar. Eventhough the gar are not big the fast flite is less likely to get cut by the gars scales. PowerPro is sending me some 500lb that they have come up with the experiment with. PowerPro is a great line with not as much memory as fast flite. Could be a great all around Retriever line.

Welcome to the site and to the most addicting sport ever! Your bow should work fine to get you started. What do you have for a rest? There are many options for rests in bowfishing and everyone has their personal preference. The one thing I recommend is find something that holds the arrow somewhat while moving around looking for fish. I'm using 200lb Muzzy line and that seems to work great in my retriever. Had a friend use some lighter fast flight and although it did work for him, not as well as mine. Have you found bodies of water with fish to shoot?
