The Barge

That's what my buddy and I are affectionately calling it! I haven't been able to work on my boat for over a month now, but with warm weather here I've got the bug again pretty bad. The basic hull has taken shape and is held together with zip ties. It's exactly 20' long and the side rails are exactly 8' apart. The front deck before I evenbuild a raised platformshould be 8' long and 7' wide. I imagine 4 shooters could stand up front. I'm guessing the whole thing finished should weigh close to 700 pounds. The front end is so big and light that my buddy and I are a little worried about "taking off" out on the water like a big sail. Who wants to go parabowfishing?!

Looking good! (gotta luv the zipties!)

Keep up all that work and keep us posted. It's very interesting.

It did seem to get warm all of the sudden. Supposed to be 81 degrees on Thursday. :)

I'm using a special plywood called meranti. It's used a lot in boat building since it's light weight and has no voids between the plys. The strength comes from the fiberglass later on. I hope it holds together!

I lostthe bidding on a 1860 Polarkraft over the weekend so that made me decide to just finish this boat.
