Tilapia are hot here

I'm in Central Florida and the Nile Perch/Tilapia are hot. Some beds have 2-3 fish on them and that's no joke. I took a buddy with me and he couldn't believe all the action we were into. No stretch- 150 shots in 2 hours.

I gave some onlookers a few fish and they were thrilled. Most locals only try to snag hook these fish, but when they saw the old compound doing the work they had to know where to get a bow like that. Of course I pointed them to their local pawn shop.

I'll try to post some pics this week.

That does it.
One of these years, I'm going to have to make a Spring trip to Florida.

Very cool, Spring Tom.
Hope your luck continues.

Here is a link to some photos. I'll try to get some of the mother load posted soon. We are talking pulling fish out by the hundreds with bows. Cast netting isn't even fair.

Tilapia are taking over our Central Florida lakes. Though it's fun now, I can't help but think there must be a negative impact coming with these non-indigenous fish.

Cool pics!

Do you have a rough count of how many you've shot so far? I'm trying to keep track of fish taken by bowfishermen (and women) on this board.

Thanks!

How do they taste? Great!

I don't care for the taste of most fish, only the really white flakey kind like mahi-mahi and swordfish, and even then they have to be grilled or broiled, not fried. Tilapia are the same vein, and they serve them up here at chain resturants like Applebee's.

I'm hoping that more places start to carry them since there are too many down there.
