Cool. I know several people that can't wait to try them.

How heavy of a bow do you recommend for your guided trips? Is a 40lb bow enough for those big grassies?

Yes 40 lbs is plenty for those grassies, that's what I shoot on my osprey.

Recurves work well for bowfishing, my fishing partner Mark Land shoots a Black Widow recurve.

Thanks!

Anybody using one of these yet?
Anybody burn one up yet?
I'm curious to see the difference in longevity of this new beefy reel compared tosome of theshort lived cheaper spincasts.

RE: New Muzzy Bowfishing Reel on the market!

Some people have reported problems with their new muzzy reels. Others have really enjoyed them. The two most common problems I hear are that the foot of the reel breaks off and the back cover comes off. (muzzy has been making good on any broken reel)

I have 4 on order with Muzzy, but I heard that muzzy won't be shipping more reels until they have some production quality issues worked out.

I think that once muzzy gets these issues worked out, that they'll be an awesome reel.

Most new products have a bug or two.
That's why I asked.

It's good to hear Muzzy is fixing it pronto.

Aren't those Muzzy-reels in the same price-range as the Shakespeares?

Yep, that's aboutthe same as the Shakespeare, if I remember correctly. I like the Retreiver, but those closed-face reels sure reel em in faster. Quicker follow-up shots.
