Default Garr shootin' in Texas?

My company usually sends me to Fort Worth every May for training for about 2 days. I saw a thing on ebay about a guided alligator garr trip for about $125.00 a night. It included everything aguide, lighted boat, bow etc. It was for 6 hours at night. I saw it over three months ago, and have been watching lately and have not seen anything . Any one know of someone that does this type of service in that area or close to it??

I was thinking of trying to talk my wife into letting me stay an extra day or so to give this a try.

Is that a good time of year to try bowfishing garr? Also I thought it said I did not need aany permitsbecause they were "trash fish" is that true??

You will need a non resident fishing tag. Not sure when the best time of year to shoot them is.

Need a fishing license. There are some guides in that area, but I have never used one. Visit www.bowfishusa.com and you should find one there. Mark Malfa is a well known guide, but I do not know his contact info, or website. May should be good for them.

Here in Williamson County, Texas the gar shooting doesn't get good until summertime. During May, at least where we bowfish, all we seem to see is carp.

Lately though, hunting Tilapia is my latest summertime passion.

They are much smarter/harder to bag than the usual rough-fish targets and wonderful table-fish.

Good luck finding a guide, if you can get down this way during the summertime, we'll take you out on a Tilapia shoot... always glad to help out a fellow serviceman, I was in the USMC myself.

I agree with BrushPopper about the heat of the summer being the best time for alligator gar, atleast in my experiences. Also agree about the Tilapia.....ummm ummm good.
