Wood, Synthetic, Bone, or Something Else?
I'm about to get started hunting in the mountains of Idaho and want a general purpose hunting knife.
Which handle do you think would be best? Wood, Synthetic, Bone, or Something Else? Thanks for your input! iPredator |
I prefer a rubberized handle. offers good grip, easy to keep clean, and is resistant to the elements. I have some SOG knives with the hard plastic (Kraton?) grips and they are okay, but my Cold Steel SRK, and Gerber Profile have the rubberized grips and I prefer them.

I like the rubber handle on the Gerbers. Easier to hang onto than my bone and wood when they get plastered with innards.

I really love the rubber handle on my Cold Steel, Pendelton Hunter. Lots of grip even when bloody. Street price is about $50 to $60 but well worth it. Scary sharp right out of the box! They also make a smaller version called the Pendelton Mini that has a blade that's only 1/2" shorter. Don't know why they choose that name because it definitly isn't "mini", just a little smaller with a 3" blade instead of a 3-1/2" blade that's on the standard Pendelton Hunter. I'm going to pick one of those up for my grandson.
