Best small game knife under 100$
So I have used Buck Knives since day one. they hold an edge, they are tough, they last, and sharp as hell. I have my main knife that I use for whitetail, and then I have another one I use just for misc stuff like cutting ropes and what not. I want to get another knife to use for skinning small game. I wouldn't mind trying a new company or whatever so what do you guys like that is under 100$. Shoot me anything you got.

Hey man, I was in your shoes about a year ago, and I was looking at all the knifes, I've purchased a Gerber Gator. It has Surgical steel and lazer sharpening. It was around $69 with the shieve!

Mora carbon clipper for me. I think the last one I bought was 8 or 10 bucks on ebay.
If you are looking more for a heavier knife than that you may want to look into the russell canadian belt knife patterns. |
for small game just about any small knife will work. I have schrade 3 blade pocket knife for rabbits and squirrels. don't hunt birds. I found that a pair of side cutters works best for cutting the legs of rabbits and squirrels. keeps from dulling the knife when hitting bones. got a Queen knife that has a blade about 3" long that I used to use but have since retired it. it was a gift from my brother when I started hunting about 50 years ago. he has since passed away and I don't want to lose it.

I'm happy to see they are still made. I bought 2 of them from Smoky Mtn Knife Works about 25 years ago and wouldn't consider going afield without one.

When I was younger I used a SAK camping model for all small game hunting.
Definitely check out Mora knives. I have used a Mora 510, which they don't make any more, for every hunting, camping, fishing, bushcraft, and camping trips for the last 8 years now. Classic No.1 is they way to go for small and medium sized game. Good steel and cheap to replace if you need to. |
The number 8 opinel slim line knife with the fillet like blade is also an awesome small game knife or just an opinel regular number 6
If you have never used one of these they are hard to beat for cutting. Thin blade easy to sharper, get extremely sharp and cost about $12 |
I have lots of experience with deer. Although any knife can get the job done, the various drop point hunters are ideal. The Spyderco Moran in drop point. but I think the Benchmade Hunt series has one I would choose over the Moran. Benchmade just came out with the Hunt series. It is much better then the Bone collector that it replaces (Bone collector was uncomfortable in hand because of some non-sense to look cool). But the Hunt series fixes that. The saddle mountain skinner from that line is the one for your friend.
